Since I didn't do complete repaints on them, I decided to combine
them into one thread. I know Jazz has been done to death since Prowl has
been used to make him, and now his own new original mold, it's another
reason I decided to combine them into one post.

    JAZZ:
-painted the rear window, and the tail lights including back up lights
-painted the details on his waist parts.
-painted the rims, legs and stomach parts silver
    -painted the grille
    -repainted the front spoiler red
    -repainted his visor
-added bot symbol on chest / car nose & on rear of car & "Martini" logos on doors (will replace with better ones later)

I decided I liked the stripes as is, I was going to pinstripe the lighter blue stripes, but decided against it after liking how the stripes are already.
And also found a place for bot mode weapon storage, inside the back of his legs, the gun when folded snaps into place like it was meant to be there.

    TRACKS:
-filled in the headlights using custom made pieces & tail lights from old model car headlights
-added fog lights / running lights to front spoiler from old model car parts
-painted new headlights and tail lights
-removed tribal flames, sanded and buffed the residue they left off
-made a little brace (not pictured) to hold back pack up higher to make him a little more G1 styled
-made a new custom designed hood flame to incorporate the Bot symbol into the flame pattern
-buffed the chest / car roof and rear windows to make them shiny
    -repainted his face and eyes

I may later attempt to do a full Alt mode repaint of Tracks, but for now he is in my personal collection, so I decided not to do one yet.

I actually made 2 sets of flames for Tracks, one based on his original layout,
and the one I used for a more modern look and to not have 2 Bot symbols in plain view, in alt mode

EDIT: I replaced the Bot stickers on both as well as the "Martini" logos for Jazz.

    Thanks

I spent more time on Tracks with carving custom inserts for the headlights and
modding the backpack to sit in a more G1 position, and actually making the
custom hood flames through trial and error. Both are form my collection so I
didn't see the need for the labor intensive repainting, I liked both 90% as is, so
I just fixed what was wrong or missing.

I have to say these two are two my favorite modern TF molds. And I love how
much they both resemble their original counterparts.

I used "Blue Magic" metal polish, very heavy on the hood to remove all traces of the old
flames after soaking in alcohol, because even after soaking and removing, there will still be
a trace of the flames, the polish removes all traces of them. But note you may have to use
a tooth brush to get the polish out of the grilles on the hood after.

Then buffed really light on the painted parts with a Q-Tip, it does remove paint if rubbed to heavily.

Also the polish can smooth plastic after it has been sanded with finer paper to remove
the scratches without having to paint, but I never tried on white plastic, the polish is
blue, so I am thinking it may stain white plastic.

I posted a pic of Tracks after buffing the hood before I added the new flames
to show the completely removed old flames.

Damn you! Because of this I went and got the RTS Jazz. I was going to get the Takara version but at least I get to save about 40 bucks. I'll just do little touch ups.

I am really curious what type of "Blue Magic" metal polish " did you use? care to post a pic of that metal polish and a tutorial too ? I really dig the flames on Tracks and also Jazz looks like a United version and he is now ready to rock !

I can't spend $20 - $35 on a figure because it has more paint especially if I can
do the work myself, Jazz was basically a clean slate to work with. Tracks was a
bit more work, but worth it, the challenge of making the flames from scratch
was something new for me, but the end result looks nice. I just wanted a clean
looking figure that looked like it came out of the more expensive package.

The Blue Magic polish is a bottle of liquid that can be bought for $5 - $7
depending on where you get it, i've had my bottle for years and stills works
    great.

Basically you just apply with a paper towel for heavier applications or Q-Tip for
lighter ones. With the paper towel put a little polish on it and rub into the plastic,
the harder you rub the more scratches (and paint, so be careful) will be removed.
You will eventually get a smooth surface, clean of any residue of factory paint.
The Q-Tip rubbed very lightly on the painted parts will remove a little, but not enough
to go down to bare plastic (unless you rub too hard), and buff a shine into it at the same time.

I replaced the Bot stickers on both as well as the "Martini" logos for Jazz, and posted a comparison pic in the first post.

I didn't clear the last set, they were prototypes, now the new stickers as well
as Tracks' hood flames (before they were added) have been cleared and will
no longer fade. The new Bot symbols are a little different and look better, and
the "Martini" logos are a bit smaller.

Thanks, I just felt they needed a little work, I consider Jazz a little Mini Masterpiece
version, the mold is really well done, and adding a few details makes all the difference.
I mean other than the missing paint, I can't see them making him look more accurate...toy
accurate mostly, but isn't that what they do with the MP line, just on a grander scale?

    Great job!
I was looking at repainting my RTS Jazz along similar lines. Yours blows my ideas out of the water for the torso and legs. Not only that but I was trying to decide how the reverse lights should be applied, I was just going to go for a whole square on the inward side of the molded lights, but yours looks far better.
    Once again, Great job.

The BU lights were in the back of my mind, but a last minute add before I was done, I just
went with toon styling for the bot mode painting, other than cutting his doors off, I tried to
make him toon accurate, even though he has a few G1 toy styling cues (tires on shoulders
& the doors sticking out his back).

I'd be interested in seeing what you do to yours.

In a few days when I get some new paint, I plan to paint Jazz's leg panel inserts black,
I made up some stickers to see if I would like it, and I do, so I will update with pics on
    that afterward.

    Thanks, glad you like.

I made them in GIMP, an image program, took me a while to hand draw them,
and incorporate the Bot symbol into the inner flames.
