If I cut off the orange peg on the inside of his right shoulder, will it affect his alt mode.
Do you mean the tab that slots into the opposite shoulder to keep the truck front held together? I'm playing with mine right now and that's the only thing I see on his shoulder that might be seen as a peg.
Yes, that's want I was asking about. I can't find my camera to take a pic of it.
Well, if it holds the front of the truck together, then the front of the truck may not stay together when you transform him.
That's what I'm worried about. I was hoping that someone had already may have shaved it down or removed it.
I can't imagine why anyone would want to. I mean, what advantage could removing it possibly provide that outweighs the risk of a floppy toy?
it gets in the way of the right shoulder (makes it hard to position at times)
i have debated the same thing and am not sure how to handle it either.
Now that I have this toy in hand, I see what you are talking about. I doubt it would affect much. It seems to only be there to keep the shoulders aligned in truck mode. The left shoulder has the big red tab that holds them together. The little orange one just keeps things lined up. I'd imagine removing it will not do much harm. Maybe just cutting off 3/4 of it? It would give a lot more clearance for posability, while still having something to stick in the hole on the other side in truck mode.
I cut it off within minutes of getting the figure.
Go ahead and lop it off, the front still pegs together quite securely in alt-mode, though everything has to be lined up "just so".
if you only cut off half of it, it still does what its supposed to in vehicle mode and will stop hindering the right arm. I've done it twice and its a huge improvement.
Same here. After I got mine a week or so ago, I clipped the tab with a pair of small nail clippers, leaving just a tiny bit. It still transforms great and the bot mode shoulder is greatly improved!
This is all great advice! Could someone post some photos of what they've done? I know it's an extremely simple modification, but photos always translate well as a tutorial
I think there are some of you guys out there with better cameras than me (so still feel free to shoot some photos!), but I'd like to report that I did this with great results! The real trick is to shave enough off to permit the hindered articulation, but still leave enough of the tab so that it can still peg back in for transformation. The peg isn't integral, but it certainly does help for hood alignment.
I'll try to snap a couple of shots soon, Allen. Having laptop hdd issues and I'm busy backing up some stuff before trying to fix it. I'm basically using a web browser on a Knoppix disc to even get on here right now. If I can get ahold of Stephanie's laptop, I'll load up a couple of shots for you.
You continue to rock, Brian
If anyone who has done this by now would like to shoot a few photos, I'd appreciate it!
