NOW I like this figure... amazing how colors bring out the goodness! IMHO :thumb

I will post posing pics later and alt mode, the neon pink is enamel and take time to cure and he's by a heater to speed drying so I can do the other side of his blade and he can be posed...

When I saw initial images of this guy I thought he had a bit of WFC to him, and it looks like you followed up on that. Not bad I must say, but I was never really a fan of the hot pink... should've been more orange.

"Was never" a fan of the hot pink? When did Prime ever have pink on him before?
Besides... real men can carry it off. ;)

I am curious about where the idea for the pink comes from, actually - is it a hat-tip to WFC? I actually quite like it either way.
Are you doing anything to the truck mode to make him less movie-ish?

the thing that annoys me most about him is the orange clear plastic, I'll never understand why Hasbro did that rather than clear.

looking interesting, the silver certainly looks nice but I hope you're considering painting the darker blue on his truck cab into black. The pink looks to be a gamble that paid off.

    Thanks for the encouragment everyone!

After he's dry I will repaint the cab to match the G2 Laser Prime better... the flames are lame... Prime didn't rock flames in the 80's, even though flames were the "in" thing back in the 80's....

Yeah the clear orange was fugly when I opened it... was scratching my head as to why Hasbro chose that and not neon red/pink like the 80's laser prime?!

It's actually Neon Rose and glows under a black light... I'll post pic when he's dry! :thumb

He had "80's hot pink" on the original Laser Prime figure (chest, eyes and knees)

Ah, I believe that's the more recent reissue (the chromed chest is a dead giveaway), because it doesn't look much like the actual original Laser Prime right next to me. The stickers on his knees and chest are red, not pink, and the eyes (and other clear parts), while they may have yellowed a bit over the years, were certainly never pink; they're plain transparent.

The paintscheme and stickers on that reissue version are quite a bit different to the original.
The pink on the reissue was probably inspired by the clear pink in use on a lot of the late G1/early G2 Autobots, like the Turbomasters, Aquaspeeders and Axelerators.

Not bad, I would like to see the feet painted black. I think that would have helped the over all look of the figure.

It actually took me about a day and a half.

    - 2 thinned down tamiya gloss black coats on the grey parts, places near a heater.
    - 3 dry brushed coats of tamiya silver chrome.
    - 1 dry brush coat of testors model Ford blue on blue parts.
    - 2 dry brush coat of testors model master gaurds red on the red parts.
    - 2 coats of neon rose on neon parts.

Spead up coat application by setting under a base board heater for 2 hours each time. Acrylic dries faster than enamel.

Once the enamel is done drying going to take some black light pics ;)

Nice detailing, especially with the red highlights on the head sculpt.

You can actually get to the matrix without taking the chest apart. Just use a smaller brush and take your time. That's what I did for mine. Oh, and if you plan on going all out on the matrix, don't bother. The ugly orange windshields will obscure any real color work you do. Just some simple silver will bring out the details nicely enough.
