RPM Devastaator Showdown is on sale on Amazon. So I bought it. To the people that own this, can some of you please provide me your thoughts on this? Is it something that my 5 year old will enjoy for Christmas? Or It's something that is not very good for him and give it to someone else as a gift? I don't trust Amazon customer reviews.

Does your five year old like cars on a track? If so then YES! If not then NO!

I hope it is good because my mom bought this for my 5 yr old, but the last die-cast playset I bought was from Mattel (Cars, mountain set) and it sucked. It couldn't stay together and was flimsy as hell. I hope Hasbro does a better job with it.

Yes he does. I'm just wondering about the drastic price cut. There must be a reason for it. What I'm concern of is the track any good.

I bought the same track with the six extra cars (I forget which package deal it was...I think the one with Prime and Jolt) basically for free off of HTS as a Christmas present for my six year old cousin...I was curious about how the track will hold up since I don't buy RPMs so I don't own one myself.

I'm not 5-years-old, but I love this thing and so do my friends' kids when they come over. It may not have as many gimmicks as the Hot Wheels tracks might sport, but it's got its fair share of obstacles and pretty lights and sounds. Peter Cullen's Optimus Prime barking orders such as "Destroy Devastator," "Take him down," and "Go! Go!" make it all the more delightful. As far as construction, it's pretty sturdy with most of the track well supported so the track isn't flopping around. The only thing that I have a beef with is that you have to cut out the little Prime and 'Bee standees out of the packaging, but they're just for decoration around the track anyways so you can live without them.

As much as I love this thing, even I have to admit the original price of $40 I paid is a little steep. But I saw that Wal-mart's dropped it to $35 and if Amazon's got it at that or lower I'd say it's right on the money.

lol at the pic. :lol  Thanks for the input. I got it for $9.99 from Amazon Tuesday morning. They raised the price since then and it now $14.99. I'm tempted in picking up another now.

Would Legends TF's work just as well as RPM's?

Some will, some won't as they have to fit the launcher and some grab to much speed and are launched off track. The same with G2 Gobots or the RID Spychangers.

I've been collecting RPM's and I;ve been tempted to buy it for the retail price, but now that prices are dropping, I'll definetly buy it.

I just bought for $35 at WM. Wondering if I should buy this one and return the other to WM for the $20 savings....That's one reason I hate Christmas time! LOL As soon as I buy something for the kids, it goes on sale the next week!

I didn't bother with it. Didn't want to go through the trouble of returning the other once I received the one from Amazon. I did get a Pixar Cars "Mack's Track Challenge" for $19.99 & free 2-day shipping! That thing is like $45 at WM!

Hate to bring this thread back up, but now since my son actually has this one now, he absolutely LOVES it! I noticed I can't get most the 'Cons up the ramp like the Constructcons, but all of the Autobots can go. It's a very cool set!!

For a 5-6 year old? Yes. Defiantly.

PLUS it being $10? Worth every penny.
