are any of you into rpg games such as dungeons and dragons or any of thw world of darkness games
Tried it, it was a little too complex for me to get into, that and I didn't have any friends that played TTRPGs.
But I voted bananas because FUCK YEAH BANANAS!!!
Needs a 'porcupines' option.
I play video game RPGs like Pok'emon
We played Vampire the Masquerade and Werewolf and another futuristic one, which I don't remember anymore. Something that later changed it's name possibly due to MTV?
I played D&D a couple times when I was in Jr. High. I lost interest pretty quickly.
Nope. FPS games only.
This thread is about pen&paper rpgs, right?
WOD is awesome, if done properly. The rules are a little bit pretentious but are quite fun.
If we're talking about board game/pen and paper RPGs, then no.
When I was a kid we played Space Hulk and and another D&D game, but we played them as board games not RPGs. I started to lose interest when tactically my plans were sound, but being undone by unlucky dice rolls.
'If I fire a Flamer at a goblin, which should take out the room, let alone some low level guy by himself, and you're telling me it only did 2 damage? WTF *ragequit*'
I tried to get into D&D like waaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, early eighties but I just didn't have the attention span to stick with all the rules and crap. However, I have been acquainted with most of the RPG's through a local hobby shop, so I've been exposed to it: Battletech (Brother is usually a GM), Robotech, Mechwarrior (old school not the clix games), Shadowrun, Napoleonic Wars, Warhammer, and Warhammer 40k. I never got into them because my paint skills sucked and I couldn't drop that kind of money on lead, although I think I have a few Ral Partha leads running around here....
Nice to see old school gaming hasn't been completely written off yet.
A friend of mine is part of a group that's been gaming (D&D) every weekend for like 8 years. I'm pretty sure this is probably the longest running game of it ever. I could be wrong. And they actually switch back and forth between that and another RPG called Traveler (D&D INNNN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!). I've played on occasion but it's rare. Still have two sets of dice though.
Ive played with a few pnp rpgs, but it's difficult to get people who can make the time commitment, and it's something that really only works with a group that can work together and play off eachother in a way that's entertaining for everyone.
When it works well though, man is it fantastic.
i love d&d rpg games and i got d&d dragonomicon - book of dragons
i love bronze dragons
I do! I even made my own Resident Evil and Transformers games that I have run at conventions.
I tried warhammer 40K once, it was not bad but the time commitment is basicly impossable for me to do on a regular scedual.
I play video game rpgs every now and then, but I've never tried anything like D&D. Honestly, I really don't have much interest in it.
