I should have the robot mode pics in a few days. Wanted to post these as they are most likely the most excited alt modes I've ever seen!

This set of Revenge of the fallen twins (Skids and Mudflap) were a collaboration project with a good friend : BigHank. As you might see, BigHank's a master of electronics. Both Skids and Mudflap have been outfitted with multiple working LED lights, even more impressive, Mudflap has 6 lights (4 can be seen here) and Skids has 8 working lights (6 can be seen in his pics) Even more impressive, the electronics/lights don't effect the transformation AND the are all controlled via 1 master switch. Lastly, all LEDs are powered by a sole power source. Unbelievable craftsmanship on BigHank's part.

The paint job on these is flawless, but what really takes the cake has to be the LED work. This is beyond amazing. You did it again bigHank :)

There is sooooo little room in these deluxes I can't believe all these LEDs and the power source fit in there. What kind of LEDs were used? SMT I imagine?

I'd be very proud to own these two pieces. Great work, guys!

I'm not usually a fan of LEDs, but they were just perfectly used here. It's mind-boggling how BigHank fit all of that into those small deluxes. Great job :thumb

Oh yeah, I've always been meaning to ask. Do you do any photoshopping on the background for your photos? How do you get such a nice, flat black background? I've tried black posterboard and it comes out shiny because of the lights. So far I've gotten best results with black felt paper, but it also comes out looking somewhat smokey and dusty.

like thyvipera, im not on the movie boat, but the paintjob on skids is sick! nice work, i think i've mainly see you do weathered jobs in the past. let it not be said that you cannot step outside the box and represent.

on a side note, nice overall photgraphy.

I totally love the lighting for Mudflap. I suppose next you're going to say you put RC gear boxes inside each and turned them into transformable, deluxe sized Zip Zaps.

thanks, these were actually a commissioned set though ... Got more LED collabs w/ BH coming though, so keep your bids ready ;)

I use black velvet, which absorbs any light. Sometimes I need to run the photos through photoshop and I select the background and "auto contrast" it making it all a good solid black.

I think hank used mostly 1mm LEDs.
