ROTF Supreme Devastator WIP Update 9/16

I am almost done with this repaint. I still have to re-assemble mixmaster and paint devastators face. I have made and applied stickers to most of them. I did alot of detail work on him. spent numerous hrs. It took this long because I let it dry for a day before I do anything else to that piece.

I airbrushed on the dirt and grease and just sanded away spots to make it look weathered. I washed in cracks and crevices. Dirt and grease was painted with tamiya acrylic paints and the details with enamel. All of them were sealed with future floor wax. I applied 2 coats straight and 2 more with tamiya flat base added to make them matte finished. they look glossy but aren't, just my inability to use a camera properly. Let me know what you think so far.

    Thanks, Ken

Another Devastator? :banghead:  Just kidding. It looks great! I really like how you captured realisim. It's not too much and not too little. I actually looks like a construction vehicle. I can't wait to see more.

The more of these devy repaints I see...the more I want to finish repainting mine. I already added more red to the face, but want to really dig more into it. Lookin great!

Thanks Padre! I will show it to you in person when it is done.

    Thanks alot!

I have matched up the red paint for devi's face. Seeing the other ones made me want to paint mine.

    Thank you!

I am going to do a full repaint of mixmaster and some repainting on parts of scavenger. mostly just weathering on the smaller guys and detail work. I am not too familiar with doing led work or I would add some to him and my jetfire repaint that I just did.

I just wanted them to look weathered for sure.. not a complete change from the movie. I might do a g1 colored version at some point.. maybe when they are a shitload cheaper. I am no where as good as alot of you guys here so I am learning as I go. I have to use alot of thinner to remove paint. I still haven't gotten down the whole wash process.

anyone have any tips. I have read the tutorial but i still can't get it right. I always leave "puddle" marks on the figure.

I started last year a Devastator made up of the landfill set with energon demolisher and actually the universe repaint of quickmix

I am still trying to figure out how to make the connection joints for him. I did take apart my Unicron figure for the hips and upper legs. I plan to use the sholders and arm pieces, but still at a loss on how to make them all connect without ruining the figures and making them unable to be in their individual robot modes.

which is the cement mixer that frenzyrumble used in his?

it's a "bedford" cement toy truck, not too popular in the states, and I have better luck finding them on ebay.uk. They are quite pricey though...I think once I actually paid $45 total on one. They are part die-cast too.

This ROTF Devy's looking nice. Love the weathering, looking good.
One suggestion on Rampage. I remove the section outlined in red in the pic below (as well as the wheels/axles). It serves no purpose and when gone looks a lot more like toes

any tips on washing these guys for the details and weathering? or should I just use my airbrush.

    Updated 9/16 With Scrapper

a couple of pics of scrapper. he is almost complete.. just one or two final touchups and then a few dull coats of lacquer to seal it up. Also a teaser of Scavenger which is no where near complete so don't sweat the crap job so far. thoughts?
