    Hello there.

Sometimes, when I'm working on a figure, a little paint really makes me realize how much a designer had put into a figure, only to have the guys over at the paint dept screw it up. Such is the case with Starscream. Not only that, but taking that complex movie design and it turning into a fully tfing figure that looks this much like the on screen version is astounding to me.

That said, he needed a little work, which I'm surprised I'm not seeing more of with this guy.

He couldn't bend his arms inward. A dremel took care of the plastic on the arms that prevented that. Then the ball joint neck was needed, as his head looked short and stumpy.

The guns are removable, and attach to magnets to become the jet thrusters on the back you see in the film. I also installed the orange jewel-beads you see in the pics.

Painted with various Testors Model Master Acryls, and a little Games Workshop flesh wash over silver in the chest area to get that movie-copper color. I painted the fins on his face blue like the film and box art, which is funny to me, because SS is such a butt-kisser he probably did that just to look more to like the Fallen.

With the added articulation, he's now free to be put into many cowardly poses.

Any comments and ideas are encouraged!

    Thanks for your time!

Very nice! Maybe if they do another mold for the next movie, they add your fixes and do him right.

HAHA!! I have thought the same thing about why more of this guys has not been done. I know I plan on tackling him sometime, or just wait for the leader fig. I am pretty sure everyone just does not want to paint all the tattoos.

Your details and fixes look awesome though. But man, why is he wearing jewlery? :)

Awesome modding and paintwork man. Only thing I could think of to improve it is if you repainted the whole tan body into something 'flatter', but yeah like encline said no one should mess with those tatoos.

    Great work :thumb

Love the weathering. Gorgeous! Did you hand paint on all of those tattoos?

Thanks all, I'm glad everyone seems to agree.

And to Encline...he's wearing that because....the Fallen decrees it, of course!

Here's some tutorial pics for Starscream per request.

Pic#1: Before: whY mAH ArMz huRt?!?

Pic#2: Arm before. We are trying to eliminate the plastic beneath the black piece, but above the rounded part.

    Pic#3: Arm disassembled....NO DISASSEMBLE #5!!!

Pic#4: Grind down the top piece, above the silver part, stopping at the half-circle rounded piece.

Pic#5: Arm rebuilt onto opposite arm, and painted.

    Excellent work :thumb
I'm trying this on mine, but I have a question... When reassembling it together, is it a bit loose? And do I really need to remove the gun heads before doing all this?

    1. Not loose at all. Quite tight.

    2. The guns are attached by a peg on the arm inserted into the gun, then glued. I was removing them permanently, so I wasn't worried about breaking the peg. If you are concerned with the missile launching feature, I'd boil the gun part to soften the glue. If not, then feel free to just snap the guns off, then you can simply re-glue them on when you are done.

(In the first pic you can't see the extended peg from the arm, I sanded it off prior to that shot.)

Sneaky factory >.> No wonder it wouldn't come off easy :p  I saw the glue, removed it, but it was still holding in place

I am not really worried about the firing feature, just about if the missiles will snap into place or not, as not to lose them or such :p

Will continue working on it, thank you very much :)
