    Behold!

Each knee extension is made from 2 pieces of 1/16 inch Lexan (polycarbonate), and 1 piece of 5/32 inch of acrylic plastic.

The pieces of Lexan sandwich the acrylic, and all 3 parts are held together with superglue. Holes of appropriate size were drilled. The top part is held onto Soundwave's knees with new screws, while the bottom part is held on with Soundwave's original screw arrangement. It is a sturdy mod, and the plastics can be painted as desired (I have yet to muster the will to do so). It is not a permanent or destructive mod at all, as the extensions can be easily removed, and the knees restored to their original armature. I point this out because the extensions do sacrifice his alt mode.

Each is about 1 inch in length, but Soundwave looks beyond silly if you poise him with the extensions upright. He looks better if they're bent so as to give him bird legs.

    Definite improvement, good work.

Soundwave being small overall didn't bother me, personally (as a rule, orbiting satellites don't really have that much mass), but I was definitely one of the many people who wished his toy was a little less... stumpy ;)

So much improvement from just this simple mod... (by looks, anyway - I assume it was a lot of work)

I have to ask, does this affect the transformation?

Ah sorry, must've missed that. ^^; I'd like to see pictures of how the alt mode looks with the legs like that, though, if you don't mind.

indeed, i think despite being a communications officer, he should still be an imposing personality. the toy size did not do him justice. good job man. :)

Sure, I'll take a picture later. But for now I'll tell you this. You know how his thighs are supposed to fold into his shins, and the whole arrangement rotates upward into his back so that the blue disc is displayed in the center of his body? Well that's completely hindered by the knee extensions. They take up the space where his thighs are supposed to go; but since his thighs are technically still attached to his body, there's an inconvenient build-up of mass, so the legs can't be compacted into his body. The shins can still be joined together, and you still get the blue disc, but it hangs lows.

Ahh, so that's how it looks in the alt mode. Since I don't have the toy I can't make a good comparison, but I can see how it gets affected. Still, it's a great mode. I'll have to look into this once I get my hands on the toy. :D

Soundwave has a BIG swell of confidence.

    Mrs. Soundwave is happy, too.

What a lovely mod. It is pretty hilarious that he's so short otherwise...
