    My take on ROTF Skids.

Pretty much straight-up repaints. I tried to make 'em look clean in alt mode while dirty and weathered in bot mode. I used some subtle blending and highlighting techniques on the bot mode parts for this. I also added decals for the license plate and autobot symbols on the hubcaps. :)

    very nice

very well done, I like the color combination on his legs a lot, his feet are a nice improvement. I think Ill wait untill I have the movie on DVD before I start painting this one.
but I imagine this repaint will give me a nice sense of direction. so I'll bookmark these pics.

Did you mask off the black body lines before painting?

    Thanks guys! :)

The problem is, the mold isn't entirely accurate to the CG model AFAIK. Skids are supposed to have feet with toes just like Mudflap's, for example. So you kinda have to improvise with regards to the color scheme.

Thanks by the way for sharing the image files you used for your Bumblebee decals. I used those on mine. :)

Nope, I didn't really paint the body. I just coated with Future for the shine. :)

Yeah, it wasn't. I used some blending, some black washes (wiped off for that messy look), and then re-did some in the original color because they were too dirty and looked off from the rest of the clean alt mode. It's all about striking a balance. :)

Thanks man! Seeing your awesome take on Skids served as an inspiration. How'd you do the carbon fiber effect on the hood? I wanted to have that on my Skids but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Hey thanks for droppin' by. :)  I'm glad to be of help. I'm goin' over your thread now to check it out.
