Got my Skids in the mail today, to the pleasant surprise of a properly painted hood AND properly painted TEETH!

Skids is a neon Green Chevy Beat (now "Spark") in vehicle mode, with some stripey designs on the sides:

His license plate says "Skids" (but there are no dice in the mirror)

He compares favorably sizewise with other deluxe class figures:

Transformation is pretty involved, there's a lot of twisting and turning and flipping and folding involved. The roof of the car is probably the hardest bit to get moving, you almost feel like you're going to break it until you figure it out. And even then it's still tough. Here's just a sample of the craziness of it all:

Once you get him into robot mode, he's pretty cool and remarkably stable. He's also MUCH more poseable than pictures and that leg kibble would lead you to believe:

His main gimmick in robot mode is the extendable punching fist on his oversized right arm:

He also has a gimmick that if you push on the grill on his chest, his armor panels flex and his head moves up and down so it kind of looks like he's laughing. (He's the Pilsbury Doughboy of the Bay-o-verse!) Hard to capture in pics, but I show it off in the video review.

His backpack actually folds up a lot more than early pics show. I've seen several pics with the roof of the car just sitting on his back, but that's not the case:

Also, the proper transformation has the backpack pegging in right behind his head, hence the raised bit between his shoulders. If you prefer to have the backpack less visible from the front and want more range of motion for his neck, you can leave the backpack unpegged and have it sit a little lower down. It's a little more wobbly this way, but looks slightly better aesthetically:

Overall he's short but bulky. Just a little shorter than Sideswipe, about the same height as Soundwave:

Final analysis? I like the figure, and I think the general design is pretty spiffy. The head is slowly growing on me, especially fully painted, but is easily my least favorite part of the figure/character design. If you can look past the head, or if you're one of those who like the head design, there's a lot to like about this figure. If the head's a deal breaker for you, though, you're probably better off skipping this one.

    Video review is avialable here:

Wow...that face.  The car mode is nice and the colours are great though, imo. It's just the face. :lol :

    Sigh.

Add another to my "must get" list for RotF. I tried to get one of each (new) mold for TF07, I don't think I'll be duplicating characters this time around at least.

Poor Skids. Ignored for all these years, and now he finally comes back... and he looks like a doofus. Did I actually just use that word? :lol

A Buttaface Transformer, oh well. The rest of him is really nice though....still I cannot wait to hear the explanation as to why him and his brother look like a couple of "Duh-Huhs"

Thanks Mr Peaugh! I'm actually really excited about the twins (even I'm surprised). I love his oversized smash arm

Dammit, for the longest time I thought the buck teeth were his chin. But hey, one of 'em's gold, so cool. The actual fig is great. I love TFs that "break the mould" and are unique. Smash arm looks really cool for a deluxe and damn if that vehicle mode ain't spiffy.

I like how one eye is all squinty, like he has a monocle.

Skids IS one of the best toys I've ever seen.

I wanna get three of him, and three Mudflaps to make a twinfest.

Yeah, apparently they were mixed. They all had the black hood, but some of them had the painted teeth and some didn't.

The robot mode looks good, wish the face was more serious as opposed to intentionally goofy. I hope this guy and his brother go beyond the cliche roles they are destined to play in the movie, and are cool to watch.

What are the points of articulation on his legs? Seems fairly articulated in the leg area, but I can't tell for sure. Are his legs as poseable as Animated Prowl?

Joint-wise, yes. He's got just as many joints as Samurai Prowl, one more than regular Prowl. He's a little bit more limited when it comes to poses just due to the kibble, but not by much.
