Bot mode pics

My take on the revenge of the Fallen Skids mold, in G1 colors.
I am waiting for the clear to dry on alt mode so I figured i'd get
some shots of him while I wait.

I removed the bad red from the tail lights and painted them from
the inside and tinted them and the windows. I didn't go with the
white stripe with the red because I thought just the red looked
good enough. painted the rims and all the details on the car body.

I had some trouble with the paint it lifted a bit, I light sanded it
and cleared over it, i ran out the paint I used and don't remember
what color it was because it was an old can without a cap. so I
made due, but I still couldn't be happier with how the alt mode
looks. I think it looks almost realistic, I will get the bot mode pics
in a few days.

I don't think it's too long until Hasbro does a repaint that is not as good as this.

 

i uploaded the wrong pics at first, I just uploaded the better pics I
wanted in the first place.

and no i didn't change the head, i didn't have another head to use.

 

how did u remove the red from the tailights

 

i love the blue you used. very nice repaint!

 

to remove the red on the tail lights:

take the back of the car apart, and remover the clear plasticand
put the red paint in alcohol, but only the red part or you'll remove
the blue paint used to tint the rear window.

most paint Hasbro uses can be removed the same way, you have
to let it soak for a day or so, for best removal results.

For some reason (I think it's the red stripe)
I keep thinking the A-Team is going to bust
out of that van/car at any moment. Cool.

Ok, this just prompted me to do a quick TFWiki search of G1 Skids, and WOW HOLY CRAP! Now I have a positive way of looking at my Skids toy. I shall no longer think of him as the lame ass poser from ROTF, and shall regard him as the THEORETICIAN from G1.

I really like this, and I'd like to see the robot mode changed to make a movie-esque "G1" Skids  

 

i'll try to get some pics of bot mode later today,
I didn't replace the head but the paint makes him
look not as bad.

 

He looks so crazy awesome in this blue!

 

lol dont even transform him haha.. he looks fine in this mode and should stay in this mode..=P

 

Love it. Been wanting to attempt something like this myself... I'd need a different head and an extra Mudflap small arm to do what I'd really like, though.

 

I did replace the gremlin head with a new head by retooling Sideswipes.
I took one of the Vettes headlights shaved it down to make the helmets central hump like G1 Skids had and lopped off the swept back parts. and etched an actual mouth, the pics
are crappy due to being taken by a phone, I can't take new pics because I sold him way back.
