Well since the sector 70 repaint contest is over, I figured I would post my entry for critique.
It was my first time trying to do some dry brushing as well as the second transformer I've ever airbrushed.
While I quite humbly can admit that I'm not number 1 it was a GREAT GREAT contest that was lots of fun to participate in and I look forward to improving my skills as time goes on!

    Feel free to comment!!
Hopefully I can keep improving my skills from here!

    Thanks man!
It's orange, just I don't officially have a lightbox (made one up with a post office box and some paper), so it was hard to not get the flash or the lighting to impact the color too much. :)

I've since purchased a lightbox so better pics are on the horizon!

I had no idea that was you, but I guess that was the point eh? Very nicely done my friend. The blue visor really makes the whole figure "pop"! :thumbs2:

Sometimes referred to as a light tent.
Something that basically makes a background for the item with lighting to show the details of the item fairly clearly without any background noise persay.
Good ones usually have 2 or 3 lights lighting up the walls of the box so a flash isn't really necessary. My crappy version made use of a lamp pointed into a USPS box that was lined with white paper so my digi cam could take a pic without needing the flash (which washes out the colors)

    thanks man!
this is my second trial with an airbrush, so hopefully I can keep getting better!
I think I spray a bit thick sometimes.. But I'm learning!

Yeah dude those things take a while to master. I hardly use mine but I should. To save money on spraypaint for one, plus the final effect is totally worth the practice.

You've turned one of my favorite molds into one of my favorite obscure characters. Yeah I know Sandstorm is mainstream, but he's from a bastard-child of Cybertron hippie-planet. That's pretty obscure, ya know? I wonder if there's any way one could either add something or someone (a minicon?) to give him a helicopter mode...

    Thanks for the comments guys!
I too love sandstorm. He was actually the first triple changer toy I saw in person as a kid. I was around since the start of transformers but neither myself or my friends had any of the t-changers until sandstorm arrived on the scene.

I loved how he was 3 things, so the contest made me think about the first T-changer toy I was ever exposed to. The dune runner mold is just a great mold.. I didn't buy any of the scout ROTF toys until him, then I realized how well engineered the scouts were, and now seek to get them all!

As for a helicopter mode.. I desperately tried to make some kind of mistransformation of the vehicle to make a chopper mode. I just couldn't get something I really liked. It would have been nice if I could have at least made the 2 chain guns somewhat resemble to helicopter blades or something. But sadly the forward back movement didn't leave that too likely. Now that I'm free to play around with it I may look into trying to add something that can give him a helicopter mode (it may look a bit funky.. but oh well!
