    Hey hey, look look I can do other things besides Classics

    Did this little diddy a while back and never got around to posting it do to the massive flux of Ravages. But now it seems ROTF is starting to die down a bit so TA-DA!!!

    I cut out his original teeth and ground out a u-shaped trench basically and made teeth by clipping elongated thin triangle pieces out of styrene. I then a fixed them into the mouth with superglue. The jaw closes and the teeth don't rub together at all.

    Did the basic LED mod using a $1 light up top from dollar tree. And I gave him a ball joint neck and he can look every which way but up. The Ball joint assembly I had just wouldn't cooperate.:banghead:

    But I plan on this being my first ebay auctioned custom. I am very excited. I don't expect to make a lot off it but just to have my first auction up is thrilling to me. I just have to fix one thing with the LED before I post it. Wish me luck.

    Probably Monday. I just have a minor solder issue I hope with the LED. Whenever I move the head the light dims or goes out completely. So I hope it just have to secure a point and not have to redo the whole assembly.

    EDIT: Ohh yeah I forgot to add that inside his mouth is the pipe/esophagus that the drone beads came out of in the movie. But yeah its was impossible to get a pic with the poor lighting I had.:(

    very nice man. I think those awesome dollar tree tops are discontinued, They don't peg them anymore, only see them in the massive "piles of crap" at the bottom of the toy isle. They work great - 2 for $1...how can you beat that. love his teeth and colors too.

    Exactly. I have five or four left but thanks for the heads up I have to skedaddle to DT now and grab a few more.

    Thanks for the comments on the teeth. Everytime I look at them I think of that Shark from the movie Strange Wilderness if anyone has seen it you will know what I am talking about. :lol

    And It took like two hours of mixing paint to get as close as possible to getting that movie metallic gold. Real head banger and the was with acrylics and water. I cringe to think of doing this with enamels and thinner and the fumes.

    And to match the color of the browning rust type shading I damn near had my face pressed against my flat screen tv when browsing the reference thread try to match it up. And here the same thing is on the ROTF toy boxes. :dunce

    Ok while I don't really feel this is a tutorial but this is how I did mine.

    Color Key
    =======
    Green= section of "Spider-man 2" Doc Ock bendy tentacle.
    Red=Screws
    Blue=Ball joint & cap

    I basically took out the base neck and mechanisms and put in the Doc Ock tentacle. I affixed it to Ravage's collar by drilling two holes and securing it with two spare tiny screws they use in TF's. I drilled into the end of the tentacle a bit and glued in the ball joint and glued the cap into ravages head.

    Side view
    =======
    [IMG]

    Top view
    =======
    [IMG]

    Bottom view
    =========
    You can plainly see the ball joint and cap inside Ravages neck. And you can see where I over screwed a bit as it is starting to punch through.

    Hope this helps.

    That's brilliant! I'm trying to work on something with Ravage (but technically not Ravage) right now and you just gave me a great idea. I just hope I can find siutable parts. Your painting is sick too. If mine turns out half as good as yours, I'll be happy.

    That is why the blue color coding got left out of the last pic. :lolol :lolol :lolol
    as I was making the diagrams I drew one unintentionally like five times.

    And I will be fixing the LED problem hopefully tomorrow night(Sunday) and have this bad boy posted Monday afternoon.

    fantastic custom, Rodimus! I've got a question about the neck mod - did you cut the head clean off at the neck? I'm looking to do a similar articulation modification to mine but I don't know if I'm up for something that destructive just yet. :)
