Awesome work. I love the new color scheme for this. Hasbro didn't make the paint aps on their's quite right, but this is awesome! I love how you made the eye orange rather than purple.

i love the colors, it matches your megatron! can't wait to get my hands on ravage too.

 

It is great. Though I didn't know he had an alt. mode. I haven't really been paying too much attention to movie stuff, don't want spoilers.

Now I am curious, with all that paint app, how much pre-sanding did you have to do? And the smoke clear, is that the overcoat finish or just certain areas?

Is there a chance you can put before and after pics?

Personally, my only (minor, MINOR) complaint is that I wish the color would be just a wee bit darker. It's still a super job, though.  

 

yeah, I'm getting the "darker" comment a lot...I might just do that, although I been using my CGI images for reference:



I might just hit him with a few coats of clear smoke, that will darken and shine him up....I'll add better teeth while I'm at it.

 

Well, maybe it's just the flash of your camera making it appear a bit lighter. You're very, VERY close to the CGI model, but (to me) the model looks as though it has the faintest hint of an "oily metal" look to it, so maybe that's where the "it should be darker" train of thought comes in.

Regardless, it still oozes awesomeness.

I love your blending of colours on the eyes. Has that glowy effect. Might just practice brush blending instead of airbrush blending only. Was this figure a pain to work with? I see more pins than screws from your pics. Lousy pins.

I have to say that I've personally refrained from posting much in RotF threads simply for this reason. f_r, I'm sure you and others may have noticed that I've not posted as much in your RotF threads and that's why (aside from being busy myself). No offense is meant by that, especially since I always enjoy your work.  

My major comment would simply be that looking at your work, it seems you're quite overdue for a gallery submission  

Nothing's lame about having an opinion, but merely how one goes about expressing said opinion. For this very reason, the Radicons Staff unanimously (and I can't stress this enough) decided upon the posting methods that are supplementary to the established rules of TFW2005.com. The positive, encouraging environment of this board and its members are one of the many things that set it apart (and above, imo) than other boards. Sure, on one end, some people need to toughen their skin; on another, people really don't realize the power of their words sometimes. You're either building people up to help them, or you're tearing them down to belittle them, folks. I really hate to be that cut and dry, but things can basically boil down to that at times.

Thanks payton. Are you exhausted yet? I think a major reason for it appearing so "light" is the black background. Even gray customs tend to look almost white (look at thyvipera's vortex I shot, which is really like a 30% gray) I refuse to shoot on a white background though. One day when I have 1000 galleries all as thumbnails, I want it to look uniform.

He was actually quite easy. The legs are all on ball joints and the balls are dark gray - so no need to paint those. His tail easily comes off. In a future version, I will make the hip guns removable, those were attached via pins.

Yeah, I didn't understand hasbro's color choices on this figure. Teal, black and silver? Luckily there's Radicons and other customizers who can fix some of these issues. I've seen so poor color choices on the molds, I can write a book about it.

For sure SQ7. I will get some galleries to you guys later this week.

Yeah, why purple? where did that come from? I guess orange transparent plastic would have gotten lost in the black head, and purple stands out more?
