Sweet work looks great. Are you able to put LED's in the 3 spotlights in the middle of his chest?

I'm waiting on a shipment of 3mm LEDs to do those 3 lights.

The LEDs on his chest look great, but those in the eyes look pretty bad with the lightpiping showing behind his head.

You might also want to set up his 'capture claw' thing behind his back so that the lights are on his shoulders (sorry if that sounds unclear, it's what I did on my ratchet). It would totally rock if you can somehow put LEDs on those lights. :)

Oh, and that dremel tool cutting bit (that is what it is, right?) doesn't look so hot as his saw weapon. It just looks like a round piece of sandpaper.

The head's been bugging me, I just painted over that bit at the back. I didn't realize there was lights on his roofrack, I'll be putting some leds in there too.

I saw another ratchet that had a mini saw blade and it looked great, I don't know where to get one from though. I had the dremel disc sitting here so I used that.

Awesome! I'd love to see how you'll tackle it.

Yeah from what I remember people used a dremel saw attachment as Ratchet's saw weapon. That attachment is pretty hard to find. It may have been discontinued or something.

    Can't wait!!:thumb

Ratchet is one of the best opportunities to just go hog wild with LEDs! I can't believe I've never even picked this guy up! I'm grabbing one for sure and doing him up right!

Hakka, I think I've seen those mini saw blades at my local hobby shop, used for the Dremels. For the price I don't think it's worth it, maybe a gear from some junker "walking" generic toy would be better. Or cut a circle out of styrene and file teeth into it.

I really like your LED stuff man! And you sure can crank 'em out! I gotta get my butt in gear here!:thumbs2:

I just ordered one of these:

I've modded the roofrack to take 4x3mm LEDs, just have to wait for them to arrive.

It still needs to be cleaned up a bit:

Someone could cut their finger off with this. Not suitable for children’s. Wicked cool

Aw man, another one with cool LEDs! In a couple of months I will want to be doing that too. Is there anywhere a online school for Radicons to learn LED work?

    You mean these blades? ;)

Thats the one I saw, looks great. I like that mounting idea too, it lets you use a bigger blade than my method.

As far as learning LED work there's not much too it, just drill holes (if needed)for the LED and wire them up in parallell to a 3v battery (2 x AA) with a switch on one battery wire. Sometimes you might have to remove plastic to make room behind the led.

I hold a drill bit in my fingers to do the holes, start out with an exacto blade to mark the centre of the hole, drill in a few mm with a tiny bit then go to a 3mm bit.

I might do a photo tutorial of my next one.

I think it's more movie accurate too. AFAIK his 'axe' gimmick is supposed to hold a gun. The sawblade goes on his forearm probably on his other hand.

    Please do. :)

This is really sweet looking man. I'm glad that someone is making ROTF Ratchet look good because he hasn't been getting much love on the boards this time around. Those LEDs look great. I can't wait to see him all the way lit up.

Just found this at Officeworks, it s paper perforating blade. The other one I ordered will take a while to get here so I'll use this in the meantime.

I think I'll combine the two like the pic iDD posted above. The other blade is a bit smaller than this one, it will also make it slightly less dangerous. :)

Yeah, the saw blades are cool and all, but what really grabs my attention on this piece is the ammount of detailing you did on the arms and upper legs. Absolutely fantastic!
