THIS! Rare would be the Lawson Japanese Only Exclusives form the first movie. USD$ 300 for a Gold Bling Bling 74' Camaro BB!!! But i digress... so far Wave 5 has not arrived here in Malaysia's Toys'r'Us.. or any other dept. stores. SO ill bite the bullet and save some time and buy them from my local hobby shops/ online or my suppliers..
I have really been fortunate, having found two of Jetfire, and two of the Ice-Cream Twins. Those seem to be the most rare to find. Long Haul seems to be hit or miss around the country. A lot of Targets I have been to have them in abundance.
Not when they are readily available online and Hasbro has already committed to releasing them outside of Japan.
As TM2 D-bot has pointed out, the only truly rare items will be items sold as limited editions. Of the two mentioned so far, I have no idea why anyone would want them. The red and black Soundwave seems far less appealling than the announced blue repaint, and I don't see what the ehobby Voyager Prime offers that isn't already available on the previous versions of the mold. Outside of those, you're left with mass-produced merchandise for one of the biggest films of the year. You're just not going to see rarity here. Yes, Bruticus is rare AT THE MOMENT. That's because he's just been released. I suppose some running changes like the different shades on Sideways and Breakaway, or the license plate variations on one of the racism twins, could be a rarity, but I don't have actual figures on that to back it up. Some clarification on what is meant by "rare" might help, along with an idea of why you want rare figures.
Deluxe Sideswipe and the Twins (regular and ice cream truck variants) never hit the main toy stores here. They're available at specialty toy shops for 3x their retail price.
I have to ask the OP (err76) what he meant by a rare figure (just like Sledge mentioned). If he just wants to know the availability of ROTF releases by member's locations for that we have the Sightings forum.
In my area it goes... Ice Cream Twins (not found) Jolt (found but just barely) Blazemaster (not found) HA Sideswipe (found and haven't seen since) Jetfire (I might have the only one in the Tri-county area ^_^) Oh, and lest we forget Bruticus Maximuss......arrg.... <_<
Rarest over here would be Ice Cream Truck Twins. I've only ever seen ONE. Luckily for me, the guy who preordered it at a local hobby shop never turned up to collect, and the salesperson sold it to me instead. TRU's were packed with their wave 4 mates, but not a single Twins anywhere. The wave 4 shipment arrived on Wednesday, and when I went to 2 different TRU's on Thursday evening, all the Twins were gone. Scalpers must have been pretty quick this time. Next rarest would be Jetfire, or at least the Hasbro version of it. There's quite a few Takara ones at hobby shops, but none of the Hasbro version at TRUs. An employee told me each outlet only received two cases each, and they were gone as soon as they were placed on shelves. Till this day I have not seen a Hasbro Jetfire yet, and patiently await a restock.
Yeah, There are a lot of toys I haven't seen yet, granted I haven't been looking for any new waves, but it's only a matter of time before I do. I remember when the first movie came out it was a giant pain to find the Camaro Concept Bumblebee, soon enough he was very easy to find. Eventually I'll get the other ones I want, but I just bought three leaders at a great price, I don't plan on buying any more any time soon, unless I can find Long Haul or some Deluxe ones I want for a great price.
Mega Power Bots Devastator Wave 4 and 5 Assortment Voyager Long Haul and Grindor Human Alliance Skids/Arcee/Mikaela Supreme Devastator But I saw Dead-End at my local Wal-Mart and hid him somewhere where no one can get him.....
I don't think a list of stuff that's only just been released and that certain individuals are having trouble finding is what the OP was asking.
Correct. Off the top of my head, the only mass retail mainline toys that could truly be called "rare" are things like Energon Ultra Magnus, the last wave of Real Gears, the last wave of Universe 2 legends and ultras. All these were either shortpacked or end-of-line waves. Just exercise a little patience until everything reaches saturation. We've still got an entire year of ROTF ahead of us - good news for some, bad for others, I suppose.
