ROTF Optimus Prime w/ Custom Light Up Removable Blades & Custom Gun

Finally finished this guy.... been working on him for over a month. This big boy features the following upgrades:

    - Automotive metallic blue and red paints
    - Alclad mirror chrome finished
    - Completely HAND PAINTED and OUTLINED flames..... yes hand painted. My hands are still cramping.
    - Automotive clear coat finish
    - Multiple shades of Alclad silver, gunmetal, aluminum, copper and gold on all details
    - Custom made gun with switch activated dual working blue SMD LEDs. Sturdy handle and magnetic connection to Prime's right hand
    - Each energy sword has switch activated dual red SMD LEDs and are removable from Prime's forearms. They connect within Prime's forearms with a rare earth magnet. They both also have easy access to the batteries to replace them.
    - Upgraded chrome smoke stacks
    - Chrome side view mirrors
    - Chains and tractor trailer connection wires on the back of the truck
    - Chrome hubcaps and rubber tires
    - Articulated hands
    - Blue LED in head replacing the stupid green one

I think that’s it…… enough of my babbling:

    First post?

I love the shade of blue you used, but the red and yellow colors you used are a little dull IMO.

Great work scratch building a gun and modding the swords to light up as well. The truck wires are also a nice touch, but it seems you missed some of the chrome trimming in alt mode.

Still, everything comes together very well. Topshelf work, Zildjian. :thumb

That's a great piece of work, but if you hand painted the flames, why not paint them to be accurate, and not based on the flame design of the toy? Don't get me wrong, they look incredible, I was just curious is all, and that gun... Man, I want one. If I could afford to comission one from you I would.

Naw dude.... been posting since 2007. Just far and few between with a 1yr old running around the house. As for the colors.... I purposefully "dirtied" up the red on the robot mode parts and I did not use a yellow. Also, the picture never do these justice, he looks like a shiny piece of beauty in real life!

Also, you are playing right into my OCD!  What parts did I miss in ALT mode??

I have a second one in the works that is using the ALMOST exact paint matched to the real Prime truck.

    Thanks for the tips!!

Because I actually strated this one before I actually took the time to see the toys flames were not the actual ones! :dunce

My next one will have the actual flames.

No, I meant I was the first post on this thread. Haha

You missed the chrome/silver lining on the molded door details, as well as the small strip of chrome/silver running down the lower part of the truck cab with blue lights. Check out my attachment.

Really like the truck mode and the gun but besides that i really can't stand these faded colors on the bot mode. It really works against bringing the details out i find.

Really like the truck mode! How did you attach the rear view mirrors and exchange the tires?

I'm just happy to see someone added in the air brake wires that a trailer would hook up to on the back of the cab, something too-often overlooked on these. nice job on the paint job as well as the LEDs.

Take your time dude. If this O.prime is a sign of how hard you work, then I don't mind the long waits between your threads. Its better to post a few updates with good pics, than to try and rush things.

Yep.... thats them. The needed to be cut from the 07 Prime's hand base then mounted with a screw that allows rotation in the 09 Prime's forearms. The screw also had to be shortened a bit.
