Does anyone actually take off the shoulder panels and chest (windshield and side windows in vehicle mode) off of Optimus Prime to transform him from vehicle to robot and back again? If you do is there away to keep them on while transforming him?

I don't have the figure but I can answer this anyways.

Yes, it is possible to transform him without removing them.

I don't have to take anything off of mine to transform him.

I've never taken anything off prime while transforming him. if you do, you're just going to make those connectors weaker, as they arent designed to be constantly removed.

His transformation isn't really that hard once you get used to it

Just flip them up and back over his shoulders. That's what I do.

Unpeg the red parts from his chest, then flip them up and unpeg the grey piece from his shoulder and flip the pieces all the way back.

Mine was stiff and wouldn't come out (didn't transform him just pulled them off to add lights) so I put a small flathead screwdriver in there and twisted gently against the ribcage and the red bit popped out. I then sanded down the red bit so it pops in an out easily.

The opening is wider at the top of the groove so slide it up first.

    Hakka.

So can you please post a bigger pic you did? Thanks.

peaugh never exactly showed how to get those flame panels to unsnap when he transforms him from Robot Mode to Vehicle mode.
