So, the base figure was obviously the amazing ROTF Optimus Prime. I started with a base coat of Krylon Fusion Black, followed by several stages of hand painting using various colors of Testor's Model Mater Acryl and Tamiya paints. I really wanted a worn look, so I included some rust on the metals, and I used a hot knife to make a cut in the silver area above the window, as well as cutting the Autobot symbol on the hood, and stabbing the tiny symbol inside the chest. I added some red jewels to the torso to simulate lights. The silver areas were drybrushed with 3 shades of silver. The windows were tinted using a combination of clear red Tamiya, mixed with Pledge Future to insure totally even coats. Finally a couple of Reprolabel Decepticon symbols were added to the doors, and he was finished! I wanted to recreate the overall look from one of my favorite RID figures, "Scourge." That was the line that got me back "into" Transformers, since I'd taken a break from the 80s, so I have a nostalgic soft spot for that particular line.
