Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
IT IS SO GONNA BEAT TFTM!!!!!!!!!!!
it better hurry it has 3 days before Half Blood Prince reactivates the HP money suck machine
Edit, edit, edit. Thats better. More poignant.
I sense no threat HP, ppl will more or less see it cause it's new but overall there's no huge hype for it. Though I am not saying TF2 will beat it at the box office, overall though I think it will.
There is HUGE hype for HP. The pre-sales for this one are the strongest I've seen yet at our theatre- even higher than Dark Knight. It's being called the best of the series so far, and the longer wait has just made the appetite from Harry Potter fans that much stronger. If HP is a good movie in and of itself, it'll see more repeat viewings than TF, which will lead to an overall higher gross. I don't think it'll beat ROTF for opening weekend, because of two factors. First, it's apparently not playing on as many screens. My theatre was scheduled to get 4 copies of HP, and had 5 copies of TF. Second, the lack of IMAX screens (and the associated surcharge per ticket) will make it unable to compete with TF's opening week. However, as the weeks go on, there's no HUGE movie left to come. The biggest movie left of the summer is G.I.Joe, which isn't a huge threat to HP's grosses. HP might continue to play well into September and October, catching a lot of long term grosses. I think, in the long run, HP probably beats TF, but I've been wrong before.
It was bound to happen
i just hope this hp movie doesn't suck like the last.....GO TRANSFORMERS
While that is a lot of money I bet HP is going to blow it out of the water.
Worldwide, yes. U.S., no.
Harry Potter is ass!
GI Joe is going to take them both out!! hahahaha
Just imagine if this ROTF movie flowed better how many people would have seen if multiple times. I was ready to see it 10 times. Oh well .. .
more more moreeeeeee!
I don't see this happening. Only 1 of the 5 released so far got close domestically. HP might make 2nd place overall.
Transformers 2007 $319,246,193
Transformers 2009 $339,221,800 And still going strong.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix $292,004,738
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire $290,013,036
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban $249,541,069
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets WB $261,988,482
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone $317,575,550
I like Harry Potter and will see the movie as soon as possible, but I don't think that it will beat Transformers ROTF in any way other than in critic's reviews. lol as Anti Spark pointed out above, the Harry Potter movies don't make as much money as the Transformer movies already have.
I dunno if I should be proud or sad to have contributed half a dozen tickets to this movie.
Go "biggest critically acclaimed failure of a movie of all time"! Go! =D
Harry Potter sucks as a franchise, and I'm sure the critics will LOVE it...
Edit: HP has 98% at RT.com!! HAHAHAAHA!! Critics = Failure.
HP comes out tommorrow here, so guess what I'm going to see?
ROTF for the first time with my wife. I waited because I didn't want a crammed theatre! Plus I got my buy 1 get one free ticket thing from Coke Rewards in the mail yesterday
I'll buy HP when it comes out on dvd though. I own all the others.
I checked the times for one of the 4 theaters in my town and it has 4 midnight showings tonight. They are really gonna try and outdo Transformers.
