I've had RoTF Lockdown for a while, and it's always bugged me how his face, and the spikes on his body are silver, but the engine, hands/hook, inner thighs, spiked hubcaps, and front end were the normal pale dull plastic color. Here is my WIP...I've gotten the engine, hook, and hand, and front end painted. I used Tamiya Spray Silver Enamel...I disassembled the feet, removed the front grill and lights, and used modeling tape and a hard cardboard box to stick the hook and hand out of while I painted them after I removed them from the ball joints. What do you think? This took about 20 minutes of prep, a few minutes to spray, and a few hours to dry. I have to go back in and put the finishing touches on the hook (asides from the other unpainted areas), but this is off to a great start.
I like it as well! I really need to get around to this myself. It's certainly a Pandora's box for me because: I love this mold to death, and it's one of my favorites from the RotF line! Thanks to Nemesis Predaking and his review, the dark brown on the body can't be unseen by me, though. *shakes fist*
EXACTLY! It's been bothering me since I first got him...but I'm on the way to fixing that! Thanks for the accolades! I enjoyed finally getting started on this. Indeed! I should have put WIP in the title block, because that's what I'm going to do next. I'm thinking about tackling his upper arms as well, but I am DEFINITELY hitting up those spiked hubcaps next.
It's truly amazing what a little mod can do. (Not saying it's easy, though. I still suck at painting.) And I love that figure to begin with!
Was there anything you did to keep the paint from feeling tacky? The hook, hands, spikes and such are rubbery, almost(or is)the same on Wreck Gars beard which I resculpted and painted but the paint is still "wet".
