I believe it was the fact that his arm cannons sit right up to the piece of plastic that his hands are molded/glued to. They said there is no room for any sort of attachment to place in there except rare earth magnets...There is a way to do anything..so we will see.

You are one of my biggest customers, M! Always a pleasure to help!

I must say after looking through all the discussions on this thread and others, it is tough to replace IH's hands based on how he is designed. Godzebu is quite a skilled basher that's why he successfully managed to give new hands (which is awesome, by the way)

To accomplish that in Shapeways, as in create a solution to install posable hands that most people can easily do is going to be so, so, so challenging it hurts my head to think about it. I already had such a hard time deriving a solution for Starscream's hands (which was the main topic of this thread, btw :) ) and I've received "complaints" about how complicated it is. Can you imagine the case for Ironhide?

    OMG...OMG...OMG...

    Hi Fakebusker,
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for designing these awesome Starscream hands. I picked up a set recently for my Screamer and he looks absolutely fantastic. I've wanted fold away hands for F22 mode ever since the ROTF mold first showed up, and the addition of articulated fingers is the icing on the cake.

I opted not to use the additional weapons (very cool though they are) because I liked holding onto the original guns (and I'd could foresee myself losing the extra bits...).

    Cheers

No. Thank you for this awesome picture! I love the colour, the lighting, everything. You even managed to paint the hands much better than I could have done myself. This is magic :)

Just got my set today. I ordered Black, Strong & Flexible, they have a very nice looking "ultra flat" black color to them. I literally just finished assembling them....very simple and straight forward design.

I must say after assembly, these things are phenomenal!!

Cant wait to get them installed on Screamer. I will post pics as soon as I have them done.

    Amazing work fakebusker.

I have a question.. I wanted to do a more detailed stopmotion animation with two figures. WFC megatron and FOC Optimus. These figures are considerably smaller than some of the figures you built custom hands for, but really dont mind if they arent for the character just as long as they aren't so big it looks ridiculous.
which hands would you suggest for either of those figures?

    thanks again

    This is an interesting question.
The smallest hands I made that were successfully tested and made available are my masterpiece seeker hands, which are far too large for small deluxe figures like FOC Optimus.

The smallest one I've tested so far are hands for WFC Soundwave.

These hands should be the correct size for your purposes. However, I'm sad to say that 3D printing technology has not evolved far enough to make hands of this size reliable. There are simply too many QC issues with them that's why they are never released.

However, I'm always testing new modeling methods so who knows what I might come up with in a few weeks?

For now, though, I unfortunately do not have anything right for you :(

Finally busted these hands out and got them painted up, 7 years late. Is this video still available anywhere?

I believe Encline has taken the video down from Youtube, unfortunately. It's been awhile!
What help do you need with the assembly?

No plans to do hands for SS Starscream at the moment. Not sure what sort of articulation I can put into hands these small...

I think I'm okay. I'm a pretty decent customizer. I just wanted to see how someone else took a crack at it before I did. Permanently altering toys requires holding your breath and just jumping in. :p

great looking hands, but i will never forgive you for making me go through shapeways to get them. they are grainy and bloated and hardly pass the transform test. curse you, I will never purchase anything from your shapeways store again.
