Wow, that robot comparison shot pretty much sealed the deal. Can I say it again... WOW. However, if they release a Premium version of this after I buy the original... I may just have to quit collecting altogether. ..yeah right.
Well a more accurate doesn't nessecarily make a better toy. I think this show it. He may be more screen accurate, but I prefer the looks and proportions of the old one
Damn that's a nice toy. Thanks for getting this review up and some nice comparison shots with the first movie's Prime.
Was your one packaged Peaugh? It'd be nice if they put some blue inserts in there for the final release, as I'd say that's the only point that I can see lacking on the whole toy.
Well, I have to say that the ROTF Prime looks really, really awesome, but unless they do make a Repainted version that's either a different scheme that still looks cool or Premium, I'm not paying $40 for it. I own the very first Movie Prime toy version, the one with the not-accurate head and the gun, and I am perfectly fine with him for my collection compared to the new one, they just look to similar for my tastes. But like I said, if they make the new prime with an awesome alternate paint job, then I will not be able to resist. *Prays for UM or total G1-ish repaint*
I posted a pic with Bumlbebee and Barricade. That's all I have right now from the first movie. Also, added some mid-transformation pics to the first post: Is that last pic, you can see his legs. Everything past that big ball joint is his feet! The side pieces fold up to form the sides of his legs, the rest is all feet!
In general, no. But there IS a slot clearly designed for a tab on the underside of his crotch that serves no purpose whatsoever in either mode, and his hands are definitely designed to hold SOMETHING. That handle on Jetfire's gun/tail looks suspiciously like a good fit. And there's the possibility that some parts on Prime may need to be rearranged for a possible combined mode, which could free up a LOT of possible connection points. In short: I see no DIRECT evidence that he'll combine with Jetfire, but I remain optimistic.
To be fair, now I actually look at my pics of the real truck from Botcon, the lights on it are obviously not blue! So the new truck is definitely more accurate than the old one!
Is there any way whatsoever to get the wheels to sit straight above each other, and to reduce the look of the backpack? And thanks for uploading these pics man, it was definately worth the wait, you rule!
The wheels can't sit entirely straight, but you can get them fairly close. If you untab the red bits from the blue panels and untab the blue panels from the back, you can move everything so nothing is visible from the front if that's what you're asking. It makes the back bits a lot floppier that way though.
But the premium version is MISSING apps like the blue on the hip and the sword is just blue instead of the better all orange.
Peaugh---does the piping from the stacks NEED to plug into the fuel tanks in truck mode, to hold them in place or something? I'm wondering if the designer/sculptor knows anything about trucks, because that's REALLY wrong. If there's no locking/physical reason for it, I'm going to remove (or reposition) them on mine. (waiting for the inevitable JP release with chrome)
