Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Megatron custom Transformer.

2 major mods on this custom.

Megatron's left arm was a little...small. It was replaced with a ratcheting arm with more bulk, and ROTF hand then attached to it's end. This arm stores up top, under the tank canon turret.

His larger arm, a tightly fit and snug ball joint was added at the elbow, allowing free range and articulation in that arm.

He was primed with black fusion, then coated with house of kolorz gloss black, followed by a layer of alclad. Next came some washed and dry brushing, about 14 different shades of silver and rust. Detailed with copper, gold and brass. Finally, washed with Tamiya clear "smoke"

I wanted to give the metal a tarnished and worn look. The "cracked" metal look was achieved by air brushing clear coats over wet paint, then flattened down with a stiff brush.

Also, etched in Cybertronian symbols in random spots with a dremel "engraving" attachment.

I wish Megs eyes glowed that bright. LOL Nice job bro. While I don't think the deliberate orange peel looks right, kudos for thinking outta the box.

Very nice F_R! I really like those custom symbols you engraved in. As usual, a masterpiece.

I can only hope to come a smidgen close to this when I do mine. Great work. Five stars out the gate from me.:thumbs2:

And my fav part about this is the inside paint app to the thrusters. I'm a sucker for detailing.

And is there anyway you can post a pic of the left arm's placement in alt mode exposed?

Awesome work. I love the cracks and symbols. However, at first glance, my eyes were immediately drawn to his left shoulder. I really do think that by modding the left shoulder it would improve the look of the custom a whole lot. As it is, the shoulder looks very "cut and paste" and does not flow with the rest of the design.

I hope you appreciate the criticism and don't take it the wrong way. :)

    thanks man

always down to try something new. Next version I'll experiment with some of those "tarnished metal" kits found at michaels or hobby shops. I liked the cracky look.

Thanks, I though they were a must have. Once I master or get better at the engraver, I plan to give him more proper detailing. On the CGI images, he looks striped out with engraved detail on each panel.

Thanks. It's basically just folded up. The pic with the tank from the read, you can see the shoulder of the left arm, it folds up, then under the turret and the hand folds into the middle a little.

Thanks. Good point too. I see exactly where you're coming from. I plan to basically make the "master" arm for future versions, I will use the shoulder from his right arm, cast it, flip it, then place the TFTM arm within that. Giving him matching shoulders. something like this digibash, but without the arm (shoulder only) (see attached)

Really amazing work  which I think can be consider more "masterpiece" and "exclusive" comparing to the official Masterpiece & Exclusive toyline.

    Hasbro/Takara....Please employ this person...or else...learn from him !!!

I know this has probably been asked and answered a million times, and I apologize for asking again (and I seriously cannot find the answer I'm looking for.)

What do you folks use as a ball joint for the right arm? Because I have a Dremel kit, plenty of glues (and can get epoxies, etc) to make this work?

I used something from Beast Wars I think..it was a giant ball joint, the figure I think is some sort of crab or scorpion, and (had) rubber treads. I made the ball joint super tight with some coats of laquer paint and a drop of rubber tool dip.

That is awesome! I've gotten that crackling effect before but by accident. It looks cool. Love the 3rd picture. Megatron looks happy.

    CGI artwork from this image:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attachment.php?do=fullview&attachmentid=17124

That's actually a great idea. Not only does it give him the same size shoulders, it also allows for a shoulder that's accurate to the CGI artwork if you remove the excess plastic.

You got him to shoot fricken lazers!!! And here I thought I was electronics savvy!LOL!!

Outstanding job sir! I like the cracked metal effect, fits a carcass that has been underwater with immense cold and pressure! Paint is flawless, but you need a smaller Sam!! Though I'm all for Shia getting tossed off a mountain or something!:thumbs2:
