Hi everyone, I'm back with a new project! This time, I wish to tackle the monstrosity that is the Leader Jetfire. I've always loved the robot design and alt mode for Jetfire, but the Leader toy didn't do it any justice. Screen accuracy was sacrificed due to the electronics and combining gimmick for Optimus Prime. And since the FWI add-on has been out, this gimmick is mosty obsolete. So on a whim, I bought a 1:72 scale model of a Blackbird for cheap and began brainstorming ideas for a Jetfire mod. My plan is to extensively rework the transformation, removing the kibble, gimmicks and electronics, to give it a more screen accurate appearance. Of course, the end product will still transform. There will be minimal faux parts as I plan on cramming most of the robot into the actual plane. Here is the list of proposed improvements: - Remove virtually all jet kibble - integrate the leg into the fuselage - integrate the head into the cockpit - ball jointed head - eliminate as much robot kibble as possible from underside of jet - remove electronics - Remove combining gimmick Of course the biggest obstacle is hiding as much robot kibble as possible into the jet. Due to the extremely thin build of the jet, I will need to get creative. Additionally, ill need to create new joints and such, so I'll need to learn methods for that. This is a huge project, requiring different techniques and a reshell... something I'm not very experienced with. So I'm expecting some significant roadblocks - potentially some that may shelf the project permanently. So although I am eager and excited to work on this, I'm aware of the possibility that this project may eventually get scrapped. Anyway, hopefully this will be a success, but I am prepared to take a loss if it does not work out. Thanks for looking and stay tuned!
