Hi there. Thanks for stopping by. Have ya wondered what the ROTF Megatron would look like in the classic Galvatron color scheme? I did. And seeing as how we won't likely be seeing this deco or this figure, I thought I'd bring the concept into the world. A straight repaint, I started with a light mist of silver enamel, so that the Krylon Plum would bond extra well. I then paint washed him with a darker purple, getting in all the cracks and crevices. Finally dry brushed with a lighter, bluish purple. All the reds are clear red over silver, and the cannon is GW flesh wash over silver, then dry brushed with TMM Brass. All the internal parts were dry brushed with TMM silver and aluminum, and the treads were also given a light dustin of silver. I was trying to replicate the G1 deco pattern, including the red abdomen panels and crown area, black chin goatee and overall color placement. Overall, I think the color scheme suits the mold well, and it's interesting to see some of the the darks and lights reversed from the original paint job. If anything the tank seems to fit the G1 character. Any comments critiques love and hate are encouraged. Hope you enjoyed seeing the mold in this deco, it was fun to do. I'll probably share some more pics after work tonight.
I have to say I really love the colours! They fit the figure so much better, not to say the alt mode! Really hate the gimp arm though..
Personally would have liked to have seen these colors more muted & subtle, but still a great paintjob!
Looks like a perfect fit! Bright clear colors are what the movie designs needed MORE of! He looks great. He does need a new arm tough.
i second what tom says, the films, more so the decepticons need more colour, this is fantastic, it really is a great example of a movie toy with g1 colours, BRILLIANT!!!! colin
That's a re-paint that I'd buy on sight! Those colors fit the mold so much better than the normal release.
Best ROTF Repaint I've seen! I love Galvatron, and this sold me on picking up the leader one. Thanks mate!
cool i was just passing by and had to respond. this purple really looks cool, maybe it would heve been better for the final movie megatron as well. it gives him an edge. the only comment I have is that the purple parts could use an extra black wash so all the small parsts would come out more . now it looks too much like one big piece. eventhough you tried to accentuate the parts with drybrushing. also slightly different tones of purple will add a lot more detail to the massive amount of separate parts this character has. great job !
