Here is a custom i did a while back.. just never got around to posting it... after i moved i have no idea what happened to my TFTM ironhide so i just decided to make a new one I liked the new recon ironhide because of the new face and ball joint head..so i decided to use that as my base Recipe - ROTF recon Iron Hide base body - Rotf nest ironhide doors - Rotf nest back window/exhaust pipes part... - then repaint - I left the front grill as the recon not the nest/original grill because it reminded me of the cowboy/oldstyle representation of the G1 ironhide kinda... iunno - blue little head light things from nest Ironhide also... i explained down there the pain/experience i went thru in doing that =P thanks For lOOOoookINg!
You said the grill is from Recon Ironhide? How did you switch the headlights? I tried my damnedest to get those things out for paint.
That's beautiful. Not to mention, you're really really good at stop-motion. You should consider a stop-motion series with customs. It'd be a hit, blowing all the others out of the water. Okay, maybe not Patrick Boivin............ You know how to get people's attention with those stop-animation thumbnails. ;-)
LOL wow im actually glad u mentioned that because i forgot to put that in the recipe.. ya that was annoying cuz the recon had like yellow and but i actually wanted the blue so wat i was going to do is just repaint it clear blue but as i was doing it, it wasnt coming out as nice.. so instead i took the "nest" grill.. took a ice pick and a hammer.. and literally just popped it out.. i wasnt even sure if that was safe or not or if it would work cuz it could of just poked a whole thru lol.. but ya if u look in the back its actually just put together by glue and i think a piece of plastic taht can easily be snapped off i believe or didnt even make a difference in holding it in.. so it was actualy really doing it on the other lights after i did the first. =P but ya it just worked out in the end.. but if u look at the picture of the front grill u can see the massive superglue marks left over it because putting it back in was alittle messier than i thought it would be =X lol ya im actually working on a little show/multipart episodes right now on my free time.. lol thanks man!
oh lala I likee the stop motion gif file! :eyes light up!!!! LOL Awesome custom man probably the best Ironhide I seen yet!
Nice and gritty, just how I like it. I would add some mud and dirt to hm, too. Along the tires and the bottom of his sides. Looks great though, and your getting even better with your stop motions.
ty ty ty tyty tttyy ty and good advice on the dirt.. i've been meanin to do that for most of my customs coming up tyty
Would it even be possible to have people engage you to do stop motions for their customs? It'll really bring them to life! I must be honest though, I love what you did on Ironhide but I can't get over the chunky silver specks one always gets when dry-brushing. The specks always seem out of scale compared to the size of the figure (too big). I struggle with this problem too with my gunze acrylic silver. What kind of paints do you use? Of course, it's not so apparent when viewed from far... As for the stop motions, how did you manage to squeeze in so much frames and detail to within the allowable size? Care to share some tips on that?
Very nicely done. Captures the look of the CG model very well. Alt mode looks great with the small dings and with the recon IH bumper. I agree with ax23 on adding mud, though. Awesome work.
Yeah I agree with making the look of him to be more worn and weathered by mud and a little rust. Overall, nicely done!
