    Update 19/03/2010

I added 2 more behind the headlights and added the orange turn signal leds.

    -----------------------------

This is the 2007 premium figure with head, guns and headlight lenses from the new ROTF figure.

The light piping was painted over on the TFTM figure and I destroyed it trying to remove the paint, so I bought the ROTF figure to get the head. I then discovered there is no light piping in the ROTF figure's eyes, so I transplanted the eyes from voyager Prime. That was a prick of a job. One eye is a little bit wonky, that wasn't intentional but it turned out movie accurate :)

He has 5 leds, one in the head, 2 on the chest and 1 in each cannon. I dont have any batteries in him, just a small plug on the back of his leg that plugs into a socket in my shelf. The shelf has 7 sockets, all wired into one battery pack.

Both cannons were modified to be more even in size, I took some parts from the right arm and added them to the left, this also made it a lot easier to add the leds as the left arm cannon now has an opening in the end.

I have 2 clear plastic tubes in the right arm cannon, one inside the other. I want to replace the inner one with a non-transparent one so you cant see the edge of the outer tube through the end of the gun. The thicker outer tube is for the vents on the sides of the gun, without it you can see through some vents to the other side of the gun.

The left arm cannon needs to be cleaned up with a dremel just inside the barrel, I cleaned up the other side thats not visible by mistake.

There's still a few wires showing I just need to get something to hold them in place on the back of the arms.

    Looks great! :thumbs2:

Are the cannons hard wired to the circuit, impeding transformation?

Doesn't matter really, he's such a prick to TF I just display mine in bot mode anyhow!

Great work Hakka, I can't wait to get crackin' on mine!:thumbs2:

Wait! You switched the headlights too? How did you do that? I tried but gave up because I couldn't get them out.

    Thanks.

Everything's hardwired he wont transform, I just display them in bot mode. The plugs I have are tiny they could be added easily enough but the only time I transform them is if the come out of the box in alt mode.

The headlights on the premium figure popped off easily, I just used a small flathead screwdriver 'above' the headlight - the edge closest to the bonnet. One side has a tab i just put the screwdriver next to the tab and twisted.

The ROTF figure had half a bottle of glue on each lens, they were glued the whole way round and were a lot harder to remove, I had to break them away at the bottom edge first, I ended up with a few white stress marks on the chest panel just below the headlight, nothing a bit of paint wont fix though. I don't know what Hasbro were thinking when they painted over all the clear parts on the premium.

I just connected one of these LEDs to a battery and it lights orange, if I cut the top off the led it will be the same size as Ironhides turn signals. I'm a bit unsure whether to go ahead with it or not I dont want to overdo it.

Wow, with the right paint his head is INCREDIBLY accurate. Your custom was the first to really show this. Great job!

I was very surprised at how accurate the new head is, I looked for pics before buying it but couldn't find a closeup. I have the old head sitting here and it really looks nothing like him.

Job well done. Those headlights look kickin'. You could've also just switched the entire hood-section, those are secured with screws right? It's of no importance, but Solrac asked..

You could switch the hood panels, its probably easier than removing the headlights. The plastic is different colors so yo would need to paint it, my premium was already painted and I want to keep the other figure grey so I swapped the lights only.
