Holding the trigger to transform to altmode, releasing to transform back?

As long as this doesn't infect the DS versions, I'm fine.

Think of it as using the Talon Trot in Banjo-Kazooie! It's the perfect system!

If the DS version is done by the group that did the last one, I'm very hopeful that it'll just be an upgrade to their cool engine. :D

Am I the only one who likes the holding trigger button system? surely someone else here played Banjo-Kazooie?

At fear of looking stupid as hell, I will say that I have not. Do you think it would be annoying to hold the trigger to stay as a car? I'm wondering you're opinion because I have never played anything with that style before. Would the vehicles automatically accelerate as you held down the trigger? (I think that because they said that the face buttons would be used to vary transformations back to robot mode.)

No, it wouldn't change the acceleration rate or anything, it'll make Transformations quicker and more fluid I think.

Oh okay. That makes it sound much better. I'm just not sure if I fully like the idea of having to hold down a button to stay as car, yet. I'll wait for a demo :D

My main worry is that in moviegame 1, it was already hard enough to control the cars thanks to the crazy floaty physics. I don't want to imagine having to do that while keeping a trigger held down. >.<

Hopefully those physics got tightened up too.

i agree with jet i like the button holding if u think about it in the movie they had very few pure car chases more of them in alt mode for a sec to come bursting on the scene in bot mode in some fantastical jump move and thats the system they made i for one think its brilliant.

Me too. I didn't like the fact that a light turn at low speeds resulted in a Need for Speed style drift.

I'm a Banjo vet, so I know what you're saying, but I still don't really like the idea as described here. The Talon Trot works because it's basically just a faster walking speed, and there's plenty of precedent for that type of game using a held button press to run.

In Transformers, though? Transformation shouldn't just be an extra movement ability; vehicle modes are an integral part of this concept, and for it to work the vehicles need to feel and control as though they're just as important a part of the mechanics as the bot modes. That means you need properly weighted car controls with proper friction, steering and handling, and flight modes that are precise and well-adjusted with calculations made for manoeuvrability and aerodynamics. And frankly, I don't feel that you're going to get that if the controls are geared towards treating transformation the same as holding B on Super Mario Bros.

In the first game I mostly thought of the vehicle mode as a means of getting to A to B quickly....However I do see the problems it might cause in the flight levels.
