after the disapointment with the official elita 1 figure i have decided to make my own. i am going to use an arcee figure, remove one of the wheels, attach it to the arm and paint it purple and silver.

basically i am trying to trun this... into this...
    [IMG] [IMG]

i have already made a start dismantling the figure and have painted the windscreen and front of the bike.

its a bit darker than i would have profered but i still think its cool :D

keep checking back for updates. im currently working on her head and arm should have pics of them up by monday. any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

This will be nice. But can't you just do the mod then repaint it?

    yes, please do be careful.

The twisted maze of plastic that is the bike sisters is a brittle mess of ball joints and steel pegs.

well at the moment i have just painted the parts that dont need to be modified such as the head etc. the parts i am going to change are the wheel section and the left arm.

yes im trying to be as carefull as possible especially when dismantling it. im trying to figure out how to remove 1 of the wheels and be able to reattach it when i transform it back to bike mode. ive got a couple of ideas but not sure which 1 to go with

btw - ive finished the head. looks really cool. will post some pics later

so this is what ive got so far...

so the next step is to remove 1 of the wheels and find a way of attaching it to the arm whilst still being able to reattach it to its original place. ive got a few ideas but need to figure out wihch one to go for.

    magnets.

rare earth magnets, even ( i believe thats what they're called)

I've been mulling this custom in my brain for a while now, and magnets is what I keep coming back to. I'm waiting to see what other people do first though, take ome ideas from them, or learn from their mistakes.

Also, I recommend picking up the Reprolabels Cybertronian glyphs set for this :D

I plan on doing something similar, only non-transforming. VERY nice shade of purple chosen.

Looks very cleanly done. The 'purple' looks pretty blue-ish IMO, but maybe that's just the lighting on the photos.

I agree with the guy that suggested rare earth magnets - that might be the best way to turn Arcee into a partsformer. :)

i know it was difficult getting the lighting right cos most of the time the purple shoed up blue on camera for some reason.

thanks for the advice. i had a look on ebay for some of those magnets. theyre really small and cheepo. theyd be great :)

well ive now painted the torso and the wheels
    [IMG]

ive also bought some of those rare earth some of you sugested. i am going to attach one to her left arm them the pin that holds the wheel to the wheel arch will be attracted to the magnet and hold it in place. like so...

im also going to attach another magnet to the top of the wheel arch and put a tiny screw into the part i cut it from then that will hold it back in place when i transform it back to bike mode.

its all coming together brilliantly :D

Personally, I'm trying to figure out how to get the front end of the bike to swing off of her shoulder and onto her back..

I'm really liking this. Keep it up! In the end it will only
need a few touch ups and it'll be good!
