Another thread of the time had pics, they were basically the same running change as the Legends versions.
I can't wait until a few months from now and everyone is complaining how many Ice Cream Twins are clogging the shelves.
I dont know about that. Some of the rather successful figure from TFTM are pretty expensive now (some double the retail price if MISB), only 2-3 years later.
Well thats actually pretty good. Although right now im noticing MISB Blackouts going for around $40+ so... You never know with ebay. I ended up buying regular MISB voyager ironhide not that long ago at a time when he was going for around $40+ also, I think I paid around 43 bucks.. But that's alright I guess, I just bought a MISB TRU Blackout + Scorponok for a little over $30 and the 'premium' best buy MISB Ratchet for around $40. (which is better than it sounds, I ended up losing an auction a little while ago for a loose one, it went clear past $50.)
Line is still in full swing, so the delxues that become rarities are ones we may not even be aware of yet. That said, Delxues move pretty quick.... I can see the real problem being with later Voyagers, they don't shift as well as Dexlues due to price, but there are a lot more of them than leaders.
Has any one else noticed on ebay how Transformers go for about the same price if not more even when they aren't MISB? That is to say, the figures are complete and mint or near mint, but not necessarily sealed in their packages. I've watched numerous ebay auctions for figures like that. The only ones that really go for more in MISB are the true rarities like G1, some G2, or show specials, but that's it. My theory is that most collectors enjoy their Transformers out of the box and feel guilty opening a non-current MISB item. Thus, they'll pay more if they have to for one that's already open. I know I feel a little guilty cracking open a new box from a discontinued line. I feel like it's crazy to open a MISB, but I want the Transformer out to mess with and pose. Is this just me?
Unsold shop stock, gifts people forgot to give, things people forgot to open, etc. There probably were a few MISB collectors, but nowhere near the number there are today. "Hey, Jim, want to come round to my house after school?" "Sure." *later* "Wow, nice Transformers collection, Bob! Let's get them out of the boxes and play!" "NO! THEY MUST STAY IN THEIR BOXES FOREVER!" "O...k..." *backs out of room and runs home to lock himself in room*
