Red is a hard color to film.
That's why they couldn't make Optimus solid red.

 

He basically said that it doesn't film well on camera. I'm gonna take his word on this seeing as how many car commercials he's watched/filmed I think he knows what he's talking about. I believe he said that it's better to film orange and darken it in editing or with light to make it look red. You know what I mean?

Sorry, there is no excuse for why Sideswipe at the very least couldn't be red. Epic fail again on Bay's part.

Also, I totally understand how other people feel about the movie being an epic F**k up w/ the TF namebrand slapped on. They show little to no regard for the characters of the past yet throw in little "homage" type things that are supposed to totally make up for f**king with characters that have been longstanding in the franchise. Maybe movie 3 will be better, but if Bay is there then I doubt it...

I'm not thrilled with Sideswipe for the Corvette. Silverstreak, Tracks, Blurr, or Stinger would all have been more fitting choices, IMO. But whatever, I can live with it. Worse choices have been made.

 

should have made him black rather than silver, a G2 homage would have been a good way to get round the red being difficult to film thing (although I don't see how that can be)

 

I'm not an expert when it comes to light, color and the filming of, but it probably has something to do with red being on the lower end of the visible light spectrum.

I believe it is because red turns out to be the hardest color to film.

Besides, Almost all of the TF's had some color variations to there original cartoon counter parts so in essence i'm not supprised

Which brings up another point, don't be suprised that the constructicons are all different colors because they most certainly will not all be green.

 

No... there's already a black vehicle, plus those NEST vehicles are also black I think.

I think Bay wants to have all the Autobots have distinct colors so you can tell them apart. Since the silver dude is dead, add a new silver dude.

Guys, Sideswipe was blue in Armada. Bay doesn't have to show loyalty to any Transformer brand. He just picked the name for the guy who swipes Decepticons with giant scythes.

The thing most people don't like here is the nameslap - the design is pretty cool.
