See, had they shown a trailer for G.I. Joe instead of some pics, maybe we could know for sure if it will suck. Automatically, people are so dead set on thinking the movie will be instant fail. Personally I like Stephen Sommers and what he did with his Mummy movies, and I hope he translates so of that to Joe, but I guess we'll never know because they aren't marketing it very well. I almost forget a Joe movie is even coming out this year, because they refuse to show a trailer that people can either get excited about or rub off. I don't see this TF trailer being anything special this Sunday. Why use the Superbowl to run a TV Spot? Or can they actually air a 1 1/2 to 2 minute trailer?
^cobra commander is the kid from 3rd rock from the son....duke is the kid from the dance movie step up....does anything else have to be said on whether or not gi joe will suck or not?
Can't judge a book by its cover. When I first saw the Mummy trailers I thought, a horror movie turned into an adventure/comedy. Part 1 and 2 turned out to be some very good movies. If Sommers does things right, this movie could be epic like the first 2 Mummy films. However people will keep saying it sucks, or say it has the potential to suck, because we haven't seen a trailer yet.
the mummy films are epic? they were good but they were not even close to being epic...too much comedy in the series, no where near dark enough either imo...GI Joe is supposed to be a war movie.....all i can picture is the final battle being a dance off....i agree that we cant judge a movie based on its actors because "look what everyone said about heath ledger as joker" but that was based on people thinking he wouldnt be able to play the part, the problem with GI Joe is the actors dont look like who they are supposed to be....would you cast tom green as a terminator? or jack black as spider man? Its not a matter of whether or not they can play the part with GI Joes casting, its the fact that they chose people who play highschool students as the leaders of both factions...
G.I. Joe will be nothing more than Power Rangers with a juiced-up budget. If you want to watch a good movie about soldiers then watch Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line or Platoon. We don't need any more movies glorifying war.
How is it glorifying war? its a fantasy movie for frak's sake so dont compare it to war films based on actual events.
This... Seriously... Look at X-Men... Wolverine didn't have a scruff voice, and they all wore black, and it worked. Magneto looked like a hasben. It still worked. An epic movie to me will have good parts of everything. It had a scene that could make people jump, it had a sense of adventure and scope, and it had great humor and characters. Seeing as how Sommers wrote this movie, it could be just as good. I won't judge until I see a trailer. I would like to say, "oh that can't work in live action," but when it's something as fake as G.I. Joe, it shouldn't be too hard to please. If you're not nitpicky of course. Point blank... If I want real war, I'll watch MSNBC or watch a documentary. GI Joe shouldn't ever try and be serious, because then it would be boring, with boring characters.
I'll be happy to see anything come Feb 1. Because it seems like whenever I click a link that says "ROTF Trailer!@%!!&@!!" all I get is this. Though it would be somewhat ironic if the Superbowl trailer ended up being the same thing.
I know really, the movie's an updated of a cartoon that would have America kick the crap out of snakes
If the official trailers/teasers and product promotion for ROTF are to begin with Superbowl Sunday - a time when even non-football fans are tuning in for the commercials - then that'll make it close to 5 months (February 1st-June 26th). That's plenty of time to hype a movie.
