Ok. I don't know why but THIS guy was a pain! So many little joints and rubbing and the fact that I really had no idea what colors to use didn't help. Here we go, I started with the usual Krylon black base coat, dry brushed silver and aluminum. Then I did the same thing as my Starscream and Bonecrusher by adding brass and then gold. It looked cool but changed my mind and didn't want that so then I made a wrong turn and added grays and thing went down hill from there. I have no idea what happened or what I did but then my gun metal saved the day. The color I used for Landmine. In the end, I got a Breakaway that looks kind of old and beat up. Kind of like movie Jetfire. Whatever steps I used, I have to try that again when I get Jetfire. Anyway, here's Breakaway. Oh yeah, slight mod on the front window. I sanded the inside to allow the head to pop out more. ...more pics posted later
to the cat pic: lol. "don't purr or i'll shoot! ... please?" Awesome dude. When i get Breakaway, i'll try to make him as awesome as yours
what kind of tranqs is your cat on? My Mom had cats and you couldn't get any pics they were so skittish!
Just like with any cat, they just lay on whatever your attention is on. If you're reading a newspaper, they lay on the paper. My cats walk up to my transformers and lay on my blanket. That's why if you look at my background carefully, you'll see cat hair. By the way, that kitty is Shadow. Here some cat videos. YouTube - somarriba333's Channel
Hah Shadow! My mind went right to Shadowcat, Kitty Pride's team name in the X-men! Yeah cats can be very passive aggressive too. When I was a teen my Mom had a little black cat with orange eyes, like two feet long with tail fully grown. Got in my bedroom one day and sharpened his claws...........on my 800 dollar pair of Genelec speakers' cones! I can laugh about it now, but back then I was all
I forgot to ask this, (back on topic) anyone have trouble with paint sticking or being tacky on the nose cone?
It's that soft rubbery plastic. You need to prime it with Acrylic primer first. Did you happen to use enamels? They won't dry properly on unprimed rubber.
Like a sharpie? Given the fumes of a sharpie, there may be something caustic like a solvent in the marker ink. Also, even though Krylon (especially Fusion) is great for plastics your still gonna want to prime the soft rubber with acrylic primer, like Testors Model Master Acryl Primer Gray.
