I'm sure I sound like a broken record, but I'm on the fence on whether or not I want this guy as part of my CHUG collection. I haven't bought him yet, everytime he was on the shelf, I would pick him up, look at him, go "meh, don't see what the big deal is" then put him back. For $20, I could never justify it. Now, he's on clearance at TRU for $9.88 on the website, and I"m starting to debate if he'd be worth it as an "updated" G1 character for my CHUG collection, especially with the Headrobot add on coming out later this year. What do you guys think? Worth it? Or not if I've passed on him so much already?

With shipping, it'd be about $15.50 for me from TRU online.

I had no affinity for the character or figure at first, but bought him and think he is great. It is always nice to add another D-Con to the Classics shelf, and the head upgrade looks sick thus far. I think he is well worth the $15.

Worst part is the size - or rather, the lack of size for his decepticon compatriots.

I'll get a pic tomorrow with Skullgrin, Straxus, and Thunderwing (and fan-mode Mindwipe). They look pretty good together except they're way shorter than him.

Bludgeon himself is fantastically engineered, but he could use some paint apps. Definitely worth $15, i mean, c'mon, he's a great figure and that aint much cash.

Don't forget third party company Headrobots is coming out with this kid:

All right, you guys sold me on it. I just ordered it, and then pre-ordered the head upgrade kit at BBTS, so I'll have another Con for my CHUG collection :D

Side question, I've been watching the 1986 movie a lot lately, yet I can never seem to get an accurate count of the Sweeps and Armada. It seems like there is one main Cyclonus with one more for his Armada, and then one main Scourge and three Sweeps. Is this right? I have visions of setting up a space battle with Unicron in the man cave in our house when it's done, but want to make sure my numbers are right.

I'll go against the grain and say no. The head sculpt really looks horrible (flat and wide, which looks really odd considering it also doesn't have a lower jaw) and the plastic used for the sword always deforms; ruining an otherwise pretty good toy. The Headrobots set looks to rectify my problems with the toy, but I don't know if that's something you'd like to hold out for.

EDIT: A bit too slow in my response. Hope you enjoy it!

^Firstly, glad to be of help! :)
Secondly yes, if memory serves me correctly that part of 1 main Cyclonus and 1 main Scourge with their respective 'Sweeps' army is oh so very true. :D

Good for you... He really is a great toy!

Technically, the shot of Cyclonus and his "Armada" is a film error to begin with. Originally Cyclonus was going to have his own troops (like Scourge) but that was nixed. The shot with the second Cyclonus was still used when introducing the character though, and I believe the only shot to show more than 1 Cyclonus.

    Something like that...

That is not so. There are several sequences in the post movie G1 cartoon that show members of Cyclonus armada. Here is my favourite one showing a Dirg coloured variant.

For $15 I'd hit it. He's a great toy, even with his problems, although the Headrobots kit will probably fix the worst of them. Even without he is still great and fits in perfectly with a Classics shelf.

I think you see two when they attack Autobot city, but one gets hit by Grimlock's flame breath and that's the end of them.

The Sweeps are tricky to count, because the numbers change between appearances, but three is a good number. I'm using the Botcon Scourge and Sweeps as my Sweep squad, the Botcon Scourge gets demoted to Sweep Leader and the rest are Sweep Hunters.
