...yay.... I'm sooooo happy they booted Milne from Lost Light so they could have him draw some crossover garbage that won't sell.

I love Milne and Perez, I love Rom (even if IDW's version of Rom is a little bit off), I'll definitely have to pick this up!

I love how even the Galactic Council run away from Rom, it rules.

That dialogue is good. I'm loving this already.

Be fair, now. Barber's writing this, and he writes good stuff.

Plus, it's not like Rom is a bad fit for the IDW universe. He slots in a lot more neatly than like, GI Joe or MASK.

I like Rom, but I'll probably still pass. Honestly can't be bothered with IDW anymore.

Revolution sucked, and he co-wrote that. Barber's done great work (the RID Annual is still my favorite single issue of phase 2), but anytime he does the crossover stuff (Admittedly, what I've read. I never picked up Revolutionaries, and don't care to), it has sucked.

yeah, that's fair. i want to hold on to the hope that this'll be good though, since i love Rom and Rom fits so nicely in to your standard Transformers "fun times in space" stories

Revolutionaries is my favorite TF title. Issue 5 alone was fantastic with its inclusion of the Hearts of Steel characters.

As for the preview, I'm psyched! I've been waiting for this book since it was announced and I cannot wait to read it!

All this negativity over simple crossovers just gets tiring to read. I think I might skip future comic news threads on TFW.

Idw needs more crossovers like this. Simple fun side stories instead of the bloated mega events that de-rail the main books for 3-5 months at a time

Not as tiring as the crossovers themselves.

I concur! Plus set them all in space while they're at it. Do away with human-alien politics/conflicts and it's all good to me.

The crossovers are fine, it's the fans that really make it hard to about these comics. In fact i've started to care less and less becusce of the idiotic rantings of others.

You just can't wrap your head around the idea that not everyone likes the same crap as you. People complain, because to them, the crossovers are NOT fine, no matter how many times you want to claim they are and that we should all blindly like them.

Were you a fan of any of these other properties before IDW started cramming them into the TF universe? Because I wasn't. (And with the specific exception of the Joes in the Scioli-verse, y'know, the one that's completely stand alone, I'm still not a fan) This just seems like either:

    1. A couple of corporate entities trying to make their archaic franchises relevant again by stuffing them into their one evergreen (more or less) franchise.

    or

    2. Some 80s fanboys decided to mash them all together, not thinking about the implications of all these new characters that a percentage (one I would consider significant) of readers don't give two shits about.

Exactly. I'd prefer if I got comics that are about the Transformers, not about some ancient Marvel franchise. Let IDW do a ROM special, or a series, that's fine by me... But when one of the ongoing main TF comics is already 50% GI Joe and Action Man, I prefer to have new TF comics that mainly star the TFs.

Surprised that Linkara, who did a whole series on ROM, and is supposedly a big fan, still hasn't commented on or reviewed the new comics. But yeah, if it wasn't for his video series on Rom, I would have never heard of this character before.

    I was.

And if you think you hate these crossovers now, I'm here to tell you they seem even worse if you care about the other properties, too.

This is SO TRANSPARENTLY what they are trying to do. Maybe it's the blatantness that makes it so annoying.

And again, I was a fan of ROM; I was a huge fan of Micronauts. But combining the mythologies benefits none of the franchises. It diminishes them.

But I am a fan of the stand-alone Scioli crossover. For my money, that was the last good TF comic IDW has published. More than that, I'd have to say it's my favorite TF comic IDW has ever published.

And here's the thing, I know about the reputations of Marvel's Rom and GI Joe series. If I'm ever going to try to get into those franchises, it will be through that material, not their modern incarnations shoehorned into a universe that worked perfectly fine without them.

And this is what shocks me. Like, I figured at least the kids who grew up with this stuff might be getting a kick (and by some accounts, there are people enjoying the crossovers), but this combined universe just seems like a big middle finger to any Transformers fan under the age of like 30.
