With the way it ended there was absolutely no need for a sequel. None at all. You wanna see something along the same lines as "Roger Rabbit"? Go rent Space Jam or Looney Tunes: Back in Action.
Seems pointless to me, after 20 years if there hasn't been a sequel already, why bother? I guess its better than a remake though(oops, don't want to give them any ideas)
The original was very much an ode to classical animation, and I loved small touches like Betty Boop having trouble finding work. I always thought it would be interesting to see Roger Rabbit 20 years later, when the HB school of budget-cutting animation was rising (even Disney recycled their animations in Jungle Book and Robin Hood). It could be even more interesting if made "modern", to see what the impact of CGI has been on the traditionally animated characters. Imagine Roger and co having to compete with Woody and Shrek for jobs.
Some of this would be epic minus hank hill. But imagine if they got G1 optimus and/or Megatron in here THAT WOULD BE EPIC!!!!
It's the beginning of the end. Soon we will be faced with sequels such as: Flight of the Navigator 2 History of the World pt2 The Wizard 2 Double Dragon 2 Street Fighter 2 Howard the Duck 2
That could be interesting if they had the original cast return and featured the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console, they could make another contest where instead of Super Mario Bros. 3 the main protagonist has to play New Super Mario Bros. 2 (A totally fictional game.) Or they could just erase that horrible Super Mario Bros. Movie by making The Wizard 2 all about the making of a new Mario Bros. movie with the cast of the first Wizard as winners of a BE IN THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE contest. Or they could make it a direct sequel to the first game only with a brand new cast, the Nintendo is fading out of the limelight and it's time to introduce the Super Nintendo, and instead of using Super Mario World they use THE LEGEND OF ZELDA A LINK TO THE PAST! Seriously though if they were to make a sequel to The Wizard they need to have it involve old school gamers versus new school gamers.
Dont joke. I honestly could see then doing a remake of Flight of the Navigator. And as for a new Street Fighter 2 movie: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)
