Cgi might be better this time around I think it will be a wait and see because I mean if they can make a indy 4 I'm sure we could get a roger 2
I really hope they don't use CGI, the who thing that makes that movie amazing to me even to this day is that all the animation was done by hand.
I just want to check, because I might be reading this wrong - are you saying that the use of CGI might make Roger Rabbit 2 better, or are you hoping that Roger Rabbit 2 will have better CGI than the first film? The reason I'm trying to clarify this is because - honestly, I don't know if you're aware of this - a good bulk of the characters in Who Framed Roger Rabbit were just paint-and-brush animated into the film cells with the characters. There was some CGI, but a lot of the film just used old school animation.
After Rocky Balboa and Die Hard 4, I'm 100% in support of any sequel to any 80s movie/franchise. If for no other reason than being able to see a movie that I loved as a kid in theaters FINALLY.
I had always heard that no computers were involved with the making of what was seen on-screen in Roger Rabbit, and analog video effects were used for shadows and lighting on top of hand drawn cell animation which was overlaid on top of the film frames.
They may have used computers to assist with the sparkles on Jessica's dress in the nightclub scene, can't remember for sure. But I think that would be the only place, everything else was done by hand. It's a rich, underused universe and I'd love more Roger tales. Don't like the idea of a prequel though, but that seems to have ALWAYS been the basis for the next RR film. What they should do is some sort of satire on the CG taking jobs aways from the traditionally animated folks, like Betty Boop's line in the first one. Than you can have a nice mix of live action, trational animation, and CG. Now that I think about it... I really want to see traditional animated Roger tangling with CG Roger... - R -
I am a fan of the original and I'm surprised it's taken this long to get out a sequel. I just hope its close to the same calibur as the original was.
Could they have snuck more movie quotes into that article? I mean they seemed like they over did it to look like they had some Roger Rabbit cred.
I support using CGI in the second but if they use 2-D animation its fine by me though if there gonna work with pixar most likely using CGI
