With 87 mph, it won't overwhelm the younger players too much.

I wonder if a "Retirement League" would work. Say if a player has been retired for at least 5 years, and over the age of 50. Teams would be bigger, so that no one has to (or can) play a whole season, perhaps 70 games where it's every other day? And of course their salaries would be fixed at some low number, and a percentage of the low priced ticket sales would be for charity.

Just a crazy thought for the morning...

A baseball version of the PGA Seniors' Tour? Hmm...it has possibility. Maybe a couple of months in the spring when teams leave the spring training facilities, bring in the seniors to play a couple of games a week for April and May, have a short playoff (Best of three, best of five). I could see it working like that.

I think an unlimited roster is fine, but with a limit of a number of players that are eligible for a game (similar to the NHL). Players could come in and play for a couple of games a season. Salaries wouldn't need to be fixed that way. If Roger wants $3,000 per game, teams could bring him in for a game or two. Charity is a nice thought, but hardly doable as the league would need to draw a profit.

Yeah, he was pretty good. Nothing compare to Kenny Powers though, but that should kinda go without saying, even these days.

Any attempt at a full or partial return. would ruin,Tarnish and embarass his established reputation. Just watch the John Goodman Babe Ruth movie.

Roger Clemens is so rich. Generations of his family can live off the bank interest.

Whoops, I thought this was about Mark Twain.

That was Samuel Clemens. My bad.

But you gotta admit, that'd much cooler if he were the one who was back.

If you live for your reputation or money, you need to revise your priorities. Maybe he just does it for the love of the game?

Pitching for the first time in five years, Clemens tossed 3 1-3 scoreless innings Saturday night for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.

Clemens faced the Bridgeport Bluefish and struck out two, including former major leaguer Joey Gathright to start the game. He allowed one hit without a walk and threw 37 pitches.

    Not too bad eh!
