Hello everyone. After being inspired by all the great works on this site Ive decide to try my hand at creating a complete armor upgrade for classics Rodimus. This is my first time working with styrene and building customs so we'll see how it turns out. lol. Since it will come up eventually I dont know if it will combine to make a trailer. Not good enough to plan that out in advance.lol. Heres my quick drawing colored in photoshop of the look im going for and my progress so far.

Off to a great start! Will be interesting to see how yours ends up comparing to the FP Protector armor!

Updated with a couple new photos of progress over the weekend. Still undecided on the detailing for the chest armor, but I want to get all the basics built first.

Thanks for the compliments. Hoping it all turns out as well as I want. Despite being my first attempt at anything like this, it still bugs me if something seems a little off. lol. I have some interesting ideas for the hands that work in my head, need to order supplies to see if they work in reality.

UPDATE: work on the legs is going well once I resolved the problem I was having with finding a way to make some sort of hinge.

For someone who hasn't worked with styrene before your of to a really great start man. I really like how the armor adds a lot more bulk on him. It's a good transition from Hot Rod to Rodimus. Will the leg armor add height to him as well? Looks like it might have to in order to keep the proportions correct.

    Can't wait to see more.

There's no need to make a hinge. Just pick one up at the hardware store. Anemis is the master of this sort of thing and he uses store bought cabinet hinges all the time. You can see them in his Powermaster Prime WIP right now. You're off to a rocking start. Don't get discouraged or waste energy on a part that you can just buy at Home Depot.

Added pic with legs armor attatched to first page. Cant decide if he's a little too tall now or if it will be ok once the detailing is there. Also the feet arent connected yet, im trying to come up with a way to make them more posable with a ball joint or something. Any thoughts from the great customizers on here? Thanks.

WOW, he looks great wit the legs attached! I don't think he's too tall, but his head may now be proportionally a little too small... Maybe you could give him an extra-helmet to bulk up his noggin a little...

Ball-Joint ankles would be sweet! I would probably suggest mostly just having his "toe" stick out the front of his "Pants-cuff" so that the back and sides of each leg can act as supports, and so that you don't gain any MORE height (I think much more would be too much!)

A helmet is in the plan, just saving it for last as I think it will be the most difficult piece to make. lol. What I was thinking for the bottom of the foot was a possible flat piece that didnt ad to the height but attatched under the foot and toe. I have some asoblocks on the way so I may hold off on any work with the feet till they come in.
