Anybody try it yet?
I just ordered it online because stores here only brought the bundle. Expect it to arrive within two weeks. Can not wait for it, though.
Played for an hour or so, fingers hurt, I suck.
I have zero guitar experience, but I'm getting one of the songs to memory now. It definitely works. If I stick to it and build up some finger callouses I can see this being a very good learning tool.
The note tracking is amazing, it knows exactly what you're doing. The only downside I've seen so far is a little lag between my playing and the game picking it up. Not a lot, but it's there. Make sure you do what it recommends and put the audio straight through to your sound system, bypass the TV.
Does no one else have the guts to try a REAL guitar game?
I'd like to try it but I haz no moneys
I guess if you don't already have a guitar it isn't exactly cheap. Luckily my wife had an old one laying around.
I used to have a guitar, but got rid of it since I never had time to learn how to play. Didn't see the point in keeping it around at the time.
Anybody else on board?
Well, you already answered this question BUT...
Is it still improving your skills? I'm going to buy an electric guitar soon (the ex stole mine ) and I'd just love to move out of the beginner stage.
I don't expect this game to turn me into Jimmy Page or anything, I just want to sound decent lol
I've learned more about playing guitar in less than one week that I've learned my whole life, and it's felt like a game - it's been FUN.
If you have even a passing interest in learning, this will only help. I've got callouses! I've been looking up tabs online and I've found that a lot of those songs I thought sounded impossibly hard to play are only a matter of moving a couple fingers.
It's a gateway drug into guitar.
hhhhmmm....... Well I live in Austin so I'm sure I can find a good electric guitar on Craigslist lol!
Sounds like I'm going to buy this game.
I'm down. Do you have to have an electric guitar to play? I only have an acoustic.
Yeah, you need an electric. There are ways to mod an acoustic guitar in order to play this, though.
Since you need an electric Guitar to play this game, what's a good beginners guitar for use with this game? Just curious.
You can buy the bundle with the included guitar, but I'm sure it's not a good one or anything. The one I happened to have is a cheap piece of shit, but it works well enough. It's a fender squire.
Go With The Flow is the easiest song to master. Got a 968 note streak on that one.
I've been fiddling with guitar for years, but had no formal (or any other) instruction, so I got this to nail down some basics. It seems to be working, too. No bullshit.
The bending games are good for building up your fingertips. They get to hurting, don't they? My callouses are built up now, except on my pinky.
You can get a Squier Strat pretty cheap. If you want to spend a little bit more money, maybe try an epiphone, as that's what I play.
On a related note, I want to get this game for a friend. I tried teaching him stuff on the guitar, but as it turns out I'm a horrible teacher.
This game looks pretty cool, but I don't know if I really want to invest $200 in it. Especially not after spending so much money on Rock Band DLC and peripherals through the years.
I've been enjoying picking up the Pro Guitar mode on Rock Band slowly but surely with the Fender Mustang controller - but I have a feeling Rocksmith is way out in front of that. I think I'll dig a little deeper into this and see if its worth the investment.
The game seems to be for the guy who can beat anything on Rockband/Guitar Hero and wants a challenge, or someone who wants to learn how to play the guitar and enjoy a music game. I tried it out at PAX and thought it was fun, but I play the guitar and would rather just play the guitar than have a video game attached to it. That being said, if you have any interest in the above, I'd definitly look into this game.
That's not me then I played Blackened, the Trooper, and Peace Sells all in a row the other night on Hard and my hands about fell off
