Was at Best Buy and Circuit City last night hunting down a cheap copy of The Orange Box, and both of them had a tooooooooon of copies of Rock Band sitting out. At first I thought they were just empty displays, but I looked closer and was surprised to see they weren't. Especially considering that they survived intact all the way through Black Friday.
Luckily I knew the lyrics to about 20 or so of the songs, so it was only tough when doing a mystery setlist.
Well that fix didn’t last. I guess repeated playing of Enter Sandman Next to You (trying to get 5 stars) pushed everything out of place again. I guess I’ll e-mail in for a repayment.
Try the cardboard thing before you send it back. I just beat solo guitar on Hard, 5-starred it all, and the guitar still works.
When I got it open and looked at it I could see the problem was the little bumper that the strum bar pushes is to far away. The card makes the contacts closer but not the rubber bit so I don’t know if it would do any good.
I know, I had the same problem. You have to put it to where they're almost touching, so the slightest strum will push them together. It makes fast playing much easier, and makes it feel more like a real guitar.
Well it's to late now, I put in for a replacement. If the new one has problems I'll try the card thing. In the mean time I have set up the drums and plugged in the mic. I have to keep reminding myself that I stunk just as band at the guitar at first too and keep practicing. *edit* Wow, I didn't know you could 2 star a song.
I read there was another patch this morning that's supposed to fix guitar strum issues but I haven't tried them yet.
You guys do know you can just hum the song in the headset, right? It is great when you don't know the words...works great for me. Course, some songs that I don't know are tricky, but I just hum to the bar in the corner of my eye while playing guitar. I havn't tried playing drums and singing yet, I don't want to embarass myself and get booted off stage This game is pretty damn sweet. I'm still gonna get a new guitar, cause mine isn't working as well as I think it should. And yes, I did all the calibrations, it's the strum bar not picking it up like you all are saying. I'd rather get a new one than to F around with the contacts.
Woo, got the achievement for 100% singing on Expert! How did I do it? Sabotage. No singing required, you only have to say the words.
One thing i've found that really helps for singing while playing something else is to switch the singing style to Static. You can get the line (as well as the next line) at a quick glance instead of having to constantly pay attention to the quickly scrolling liyrics.
I've tried like hell, but the "talkie" parts, like most of Sabotage, just don't seem to register properly.
