When the Botcon 2012 set was announced, I made my own Metalhawk out of the First Edition TFPrime Starscream. The goal was to have a lanky figure representing the N.A.I.L representative, Metalhawk, from the IDW "Robots In Disguise" ongoing. It was alright, but I wanted something taller and planned on a V2 using the Voyager figure.

The Voyager TFPrime Starscream has better arm fins/blades and nice broad shoulderpads - it's much nicer for a IDW/RID Metalhawk.

With his political sparring partner - Bumblebee.

The mold looks good in those colors, but the new head doesn't go well with the rest. Perhaps a modified Knockout or Ratchet head would work better...or maybe even the Starscream one.

While I know it's a TFPrime figure, I feel a more classic head can still work. Keep in mind, I'm going for the Metalhawk from the current comic series.

The head in that pic is hard to make out - but it would be far too small for this one. The figure shown in that pic is a modified FE Starscream, a deluxe. That said, thank you for the pic Stprime! That Minerva is amazing and definitely giving me an idea for a future project. I've never seen that one before.

I'm sorry. It's just that I feel the aesthetics clash here.

I'm sorry, but his head on that body is really f*cking disturbing. Nice paint though.

    Oh... my... god...

I love this so hard I'm probably going to have to steal it. What head did you use?

I love everything about this. Any alt mode pics? This works so well. I think the figure like this has nailed (;) ) Metalhawk in the comic.

EDIT: I don't get people saying the head doesn't fit the body. I think it looks fine. Actually I think it looks just as good as Starscreams head on it. But more importantly, it matches this so wonderfully:

Looks awesome! I made a metalhawk from a cyclonus, but this is so close to the comic! Nice work!

It's just an opinion. Tastes differ, etc. You just don't see it from my perspective and vice versa.

I think some more heroic posing might help the head
Nice solid head on the hunched over lanky body is breaking the image
    nice paint and idea though

Thanks. I used the head from Cybertron Evac/Generations Blades/ TFCC Galvatron. I tried to be as close to the comic as possible.

The only three heads I could find that really invoked the comic-version of the character were Cybertron Longrack (used on my deluxe version), Generations Drift, and Evac. With the size of the figure, my choices were mainly between Drift and Evac.

That's cool. Everyone's tastes differ. It was like this with the last Metalhawk I made (at the deluxe scale). I have no problem mixing movie-verse figures into my classics collection (lockdown and a few others) or modified animated figures (Arcee with the head Uuser made/cast). Other people are stricter in terms of aesthetic.

Personally, I grew up with late g1 and g2. I've always seen TF aesthetics as a grab bag of miscellaneous styles (pretender era, movie era vs 84/85, G2, etc...).

One of the pics I posted has him standing straight. It definitely looks better. I took pics as soon as it dried. I definitely rushed them (same thing with no alt mode pics - coming tomorrow).

This is a GREAT idea. It works really well for IDW Metalhawk... but I have to agree with some of the others.... that head doesn't quite work. It's not a Prime vs Classics thing... just the size, roundness, lines of the Evac head feels at odds with that body.

Have you considered Generations Drift? Or would that head be too small? He has similar ear-fins, and a nose guard that comes down and almost resembles a small beak, kind of like Metalhawk there. I think the swept-backward angles of that head would work much better, if the size works.

It was one of the three heads I considered for the character - but I couldn't get one for a decent price and I don't want to sacrifice my only Drift.

I tried posting a wanted thread for parts - no luck.

So if I ever steal this idea I'm going to use a rereleased FE Starscream. What head did you use for the deluxe version?

My first Metalhawk, the FE Deluxe Class version, uses the head from Cybertron Longrack. The face/front of the head is removed and is attached to the back of FE Starscream's - as the balljoint on that figure is TINY.

On the voyager, the head tucks in just enough to work. On the deluxe, it has to be removed for jet mode. The FE head is very tiny and thin.
