The RID Annual is now Live on Comixology, very exciting.

Downloading now, will be back with thoughts later.

EDIT: Now read, an excellent book, with a very unexpected outcome. Barber weaves together two stories, one from Cybertron's present, and one from it's ancient past. Quite what it means for Cybertron's future at this point remains unclear.

I can't review this annual without typing a post that would take me the rest of the day.

The Retro art and storytelling were AMAZING. They did an absolutely perfect job of channeling early 80s Frank Springer. Just Wow. This is what I wish ReG1 felt like. Not to judge that book, this was just such a pure hit rush of awesome nostalgia on every page of the retro story it was like the early G1 Marvel book living again!

And the story was good too!
I'm a bit sad about the Metrotitan being taken off the table this quick, (they could have done so much with him)
but what he did/set in motion before going was a real wow moment and all the filling in the blanks was pretty shocking and interesting. And we finally get inside Metalhawk's head far enough to judge his intentions.

This was the first issue of RiD that really felt just as good as MtMtE to me. I mean I've enjoyed RiD ok, but this one was honestly great and a real treat. Hope the regular book keeps that momentum going.

-ZacWilliam, two spectacular stories in one day. Wow. It's hard to stop smiling. :)

Just sitting down to read this. Those retro pages are beautiful, and I echo what you're saying about how Regen 1 should look.

Yep, I've never even read any of the Marvel run, and yet those Guido pages reached to me. Beautifully drawn and written.

Barber and Guido have really captured the essence of old Marvel in these flashback pages. Much more so than Furman and Wildman's efforts. Love all the exclamation marks and 'valiant' this and 'old friends' that.

I forgot to mention! In the Retro pages... The roll call page... Where everyone gives their name and states something about their character in one big intro info dump. That was THE MOST Marvel Comics TF page EVER.

-ZacWilliam, I was smiling sooooo hard.

It certainly sheds further light on what some of us were speculating regarding
the relationship between 'till all are one', the Chaos gestalt and Superion's appearance
    last issue.
'Now the many become one!' indeed.
This is one really messed up planet, and I feel that the off world shenanigans of Orion Pax will flesh this out even more.

This annual has also cemented my positive feelings about the slow burn of RID. Barber is in this game for the long haul and playing his hand very well.

Enough stuff that you'll need to buy the issue or read the wiki to get it all.

-ZacWilliam, everyone should be buying the issues regaurdless.

I'd tell you, but you got all petty and blocked me during the great 'I'll only read this on the Wiki' debate of MTMTE #6, so...

    I enjoyed that as well.

And I liked the tie in of Omega Supreme to Crystal City. Not sure if that was done in the Marvel G1 comic, but I remember it from the G1 cartoon.

One continuity glitch: Cyclonus in MTMTE talks about praying in a shadow of a Metrotitan on Cybertron, but that is clearly not the case here.

Nothin' sayin' that Cyclonus isn't old enough to be familiar with Metrotitans from BEFORE all of this. Like, from WAY back when.

That panel had me in stitches! Actually, The entire 'retro' part of the book was great, not just because it was written in the way of the first Marvel comic, but also because of the totally unrealistic, fairytale way of the characters talking and interacting.

Whether Nova Prime unified all Cybertronians, you just know those guys would never have acted so enlightened and kind. :lol

Wow. This might be my new favorite issue of RiD. It was freakin' GREAT.

And this leads to MORE theories about just what the force is that's making Cybertronians into gestalts. I am now guessing Nova Prime's ghost is inside of Vector Sigma! Or something.

Also, Nova talked about making the "many into one." So did Bombshell before his demise.

    Coincidence?

Well, y'know, "till all are one", and all that.
