Robotkingdom Transformers Review: Takara Transformers Prime AM-19 Gaia Unicron - YouTube
oh god, the quality
still, awesome they got a review out - He does look a bit flimsy and i was going to pass on it, but against my better judgement i'm really tempted to get this figure.
i think i just want a transforming chrome volcano^H^H^H^H^H^Hspace cruiser!
Can't wait for this to go on my shelf
At first I thought you were talking about the toy then I clicked the link. lol
If RK is reviewing the figure does this mean we can expect Unicron to ship soon?
Their site says it starts shipping the 29th of September.
I hate to say this out loud...but I'd buy one if Hasbro would make one.
This is definitely one figure where Hasbro's traditional muted blandness might pay off.
Not sure why I would want Unicron to be a Decepticon, nor why I would want him to look like Michael Jackson on tour in Las Vegas...but...at least Takara is releasing the mold.
Interesting alternate mode to say the least. Not sure I could proudly display this figure in my collection without laughing everytime I looked at it. I just can't picture the deep voice of Unicron coming from this glitter volcano.
As nice as it is in bot mode, the alt mode is terrible. I guess if I was a volcano fan, I would be more enthusiastic about it.
This is almost exactly what I've been thinking since the first color pictures surfaced. I had one preordered right up until that reveal, and then I dropped it without thinking twice. I can handle a lot of far-fetched concepts, but a chrome-infused disco-flavored volcanoformer isn't one of them.
I kinda dig the fact that he can turn into a quasi-volcano. That is certainly a unique alt mode in the TFs universe.
You know the Armada toys and Cybertron ones of him had him listed as a decepticon also right?
On a side note, don't you think they went overboard in this high tech digital age with 240p video for the review...I don't know if Teletran 1 can output that high a quality!
Don't get me wrong nice to see a review but man, come on. Someone has to have a 1/2 way decent cellphone to record that with right? What was that horrible clicking noise throughout the whole video?
edit: After watching the video has Has/Tak gone backward? He's a partsformer.
I love this dude, he's disco.
No where on Armada Unicron's box is he labeled as a Decepticon. I'm pretty sure the Micron Legend version labeled him as a Micron due to his relationship with the Minicons. Same thing with Energon Unicron. Neither had Decepticon faction symbols, and neither took sides in the show.
The Universe release of Unicron had a Decepticon emblem on the box, but he also really had no place in Universe being a straight re-release, and appeared in no media. Yes, the Cybertron release did sport a Decepticon symbol on the packaging, but again, another media-less toy.
Prime Unicron appears in an ongoing show, takes no sides, but they label him as a Decepticon.
They have a review for Ironhide too.
My Bad, I just checked my Armada Unicron box and his paperwork, and your right he didn't have an affiliation on those, his box transformation papers are in a light blue, no purple or red. I could have sworn I've seen the big guy with decepticon symbols on his big box somewhere. Did the Energon box have them?
Annnnndddd.........canceled. I can't even justify that just for robot mode. It looks OK but, not $70 OK.
Yeah I was sold... Now I'm not so sure. It's not even the colors... It looks... Cheap. I couldn't eventually watch the video because of a bad connection, but I may have seen enough.
No, only the Toys R' Us Exclusive Universe release of Unicron used the Decepticon emblems (and the Cybertron deluxe figure that you already pointed out).
Unicron to me has always been more of a force of his own rather than an aligned being favoring the Decepticon cause, I'm not sure why this bothers me so much. I know the stickers are optional per se. But they were designed to be used. The Takara-Tomy Prime line figures are designed to be kits, so the stickers are definitely meant to show they want him aligned with the Decepticons.
It's just odd to me.
I'm no expert for Transformers, and I'll have to wait and see how other reviewers rate this figure...but from watching that review, my ears heard something.
Cheap, thin plastic.
Now once again, I'm probably wrong...but this is the first time that I've noticed hearing plastic making a thin sound (if that makes any sense). I know Optibotimus is good at letting people know if a figure is cheap feeling, so I hope he gets one to review.
I had no interest in this guy, and the video didn't change my mind one bit. Even if the U.S. had this as a Voyager for 20 bucks...I would still pass.
I doubt you misheard anything. It's definitely a safe bet that the toy is made of the same cheaper plastic that plagues the rest of the line.
looks like a transmetal figure
