This quote caught my attention: Sounds like what I wish the TF films had been; good stories with well-developed robot characters. I thought Monsters was really well done and I look forward to seeing what Edwards does with the Godzilla property. http://www.slashfilm.com/gareth-edwards-original-scifi-film-robot-star-wars/
Shit man, I came up with this story 2 years ago...lol. Only with a teenage girl and she wasn't looking for the origin of mankind.... she was just looking for any human in a galaxy over run with robots.
Well, sure the Transformers trilogy could have been like this if not for the whole 'Autobots X Decepticons' things. And I thought Monsters was horrible. I have respect for Edwards' doing all the effects and editing himself, but the movie was an exercise in boredom and poor storytelling. I'm afraid that he's attached to the Godzilla reboot.
All I wanted was a movie about the 'bots vs. 'cons. What we got is a movie about humans with TFs in it.
To be fair, that is the whole idea of doing a live action TF film. Anything else would be an animated movie.
Live action films just don't work that way. Get over it. The most one could hope for from a future live action TF film is maybe something along the lines of Avatar. In that the screen time between the human and CGI characters is a little more balanced.
There's always a first time for everything. As for getting over it, do you give up on things you want because the probability is low? Do I expect it is likely a robot-centric TF movie will be made? Having seen the original trilogy, absolutely not. Does the fact that it is unlikely change the fact that I would like to see a film centered on the TFs as opposed to the humans? Absolutely not.
*Pitching the idea* Pitcher: It's about this robot in space. Executive: ...I don't know, sounds kind of boring. Pitcher: Um, it's kind of like Star Wars. Executive: ...Ok, could be interesting. Go on.
