Can anyone remember some Big Lots-style bootleg transformer toys that turned into reptiles? Years ago I bought a gift set similar to those robo-insect packs (the bee, praying mantis, hornet, fly, mosquito, moth, etc). I know for a fact that it had an iguana and chameleon in it because I still have them. The chameleon is green and the iguana is red, though as bootleggy toys the colors could vary I suppose. I also remember an alligator/crocodile and I can't remember the fourth member.

I believe they were labeled as "Robo Reptiles" and oddly enough I think I got it at Toys R Us. Can anyone help me identify these?

EDIT: Here's a panel from one of my old comics featuring the chameleon as a commercial actor...

I have two of these that I picked up in Majorca in 1990. I have the Moth and the Chameleon, but i'm afraid that's the extent of my knowledge. I'd be very interested to get any more information about these, they're pretty good quality and good fun.
That said, my moth-man has two right thighs...

I think Bellpeppers was asking, because for them to be bootlegs, they'd have to be a ripoff of something, and personally, I've never seen anything that looks like those.

I could care less about them being bootlegs or not. Whatever the hell they are, I would like to know. I've had the chameleon and iguana now for years and both are broken and am missing the other one/s, and it's like I want closure after all these years of looking around. LOL I just wanna know wtf they are! XD

Me too! That's why I resorted to making a topic here. Usually bugging other members about stuff like this is a last resort after I've exhausted every possible search.

Power Ranger Transformer Lizard - WebStore item#8495009

^This is one of the ones in the set I got. The green one was a chameleon, and this red one is an iguana from what I can tell.

I had these as a kid, there was a green gecko and a brown gator too. They didn't make it through my childhood in one piece, but I remember they all came in one big box together. I remember there being other box sets in the same assortment at TRU in the 90's too, I know there was at least a set of jets and maybe dinos.

I think I found the, kind of. It's not a gecko, it's a gila monster. But the others are still right.

I found this over on the Allspark forums-

Buy any KO's lately? - The Allspark Forums

Now where the hell do I get them? =/

I remember seeing those under some Japanese brand. The molds and colors are correct. But they are still Bootleg/KO's.

It would seem they're both bootlegs from the same line in Japan.

I always figured they were just cheap generics. Sometimes cheap toys aren't KOs of anything in particular.

Nope. Apparently they're from an animorphs-like line. That's why all the figures have crappy silver heads; they originally had human faces.
