Welcome one and all to the hopefully amusing world of Robot Heroes! First of all I'd just like to apologise for the terrible picture quality, needless to say I don't have the greatest camera in the world! But hopefully it won't affect your enjoyment of the comic. So without further delay, here's the first part of Robot Heroes!

Ha ha!! That's great. The only advice I could give is to try using a Macro mode on your camera (looks like a flower) and to put their speech in bubbles, so it doesn't get lost in the background.

Thanks for the comments everyone :D  I would have put them in speech bubbles, but I couldn't find where to get the speech bubbles from! I'll have a better look for the next set ;)  Now to go find my camera and see if I can find that flower...

I use the selection tool, and fill it with the paint bucket.

    O.F. -

You can also draw the speech bubbles in MS Paint or something similar, if you don't want to get too complicated just starting out. (I actually draw mine in MS Paint, though I now use GIMP for lettering and "effects")

GNU GIMP is a very nice program, and it is legitimately freely available and freely changeable. Eat hot plasma, Adobe!

Suggestion: Draw text on blank image, draw outlines, fill outside with useless color like magenta, rectangle-select bubble, then paste on image, using Paint in another window, and setting background color to your useless color. Be sure to click the "paste without background" icon at lower left. This way, you can move the speech bubbles around. Afterwards, add stems.

As for image quality, it's always possible to get better. Mine isn't top-grade, never was, but there's a reason I named it what I did...very early strips were done with a 320 x 200 webcam...and then a $20 VGA camera, before I got something halfway decent. If your camera is cheap, try to light the scene brightly; it seems to help a lot.

Making RH Hot Rod transform is :lol  +!

Hey, Optimus Frimal! Good to see you over on this board again. And I see Optimus has found some quality reading material. :thumb

And when shooting tiny figures, macro is your friend. Your bestest friend. :thumb

That transformation of Hot Rod's is awesome, I'm gonna use it when I play with mine next time my brother's over and just watch him laugh his butt off.

and maybe I'll update with Hot Rod's search for backup... maybe I'll just upload it anyway, but maybe I'll upload it sooner ;)

i see you went with ms paint for the speach bubbles

another word of advise for that

change the white background with another (and have that color as the secondary color) and make the selection tool so that the background color is clear
