    robot heroes articulated nemesis mirage+tutorial!!

updated 1/1/10-added a small tutorial in the end of the post

this was a i'm sorry i'm late in finishing your custom ,to one of my customers

the client wanted a classics nemesis mirage -he got one!! (its on drying after the last clear coat ),he asked me not to put any pics of the final product on the web cause he wants to b the first to see it .and i agree with him . :)
but i was a bit dragging this one ,till the new hands had arrived ,the decals ...
so i made him a small surprise

robot heroes -nemesis mirage to go with his classic fig.

the bot was disected and re-articulated using balljoints
now he has head on ball joint ,shoulder joints, elbows, hand, hips, knees
i elongated his feet with eopxy putty-scribled the lines
    made him a face plate
4 shades of enamel paint -black,black/gold,gold,flat black- red for the eyes.
coated with 2 layer of glossy clear coat .
added a lightsaber as a weapon (i have to paint the handle black)

    C&c r welcome
will post the final pics of the nemesis mirage when my client will give me the permission.

cant manage my attachments -so i'll do that later

Yeah, I agree. A tutorial on how to articulate any robot hero would be awesome! I just got Robot heroes Rhinox and Waspinator and Rhinox is really just begging me to repaint and articulate him. He is too sweet looking not to.

Oh, and that nemy mirage looks simply amazing btw. Great Job!:thumbs2:

    ok small tutorial

sorry for those paint sketches,i cant (and i dont know how to) really paint on the comp

so all u need is the figure u need to decide where do u want to add articulation
cut it with an xacto blade ,a cutting hobby knife or any other sharp tool.

in this pic i pointed the places of articulation on the mirage fig

my choice of ball joint for this one was some extra ball joints from a gundam hand kit ,it comes with 2 sizes of ball joints ,and there r 12 of them 6 in each size ,and for the hands u need only 6 cause u get 3 pairs of hands.

any other hobby ball joints will do .

the trick is simple and requires only one dremel bit
its a round bit that has some ribbed texture to it ,u need to drill a hole in the plastic that will become the " female" side of the ball joint ,work on lower speeds cause the hight speeds will create to much heat that will melt your plastic .

using a non ribbed head bit will not really work so well cause u need to eat the plastic and not toonly sanding it .

work slowly and apply pressure till the whole bit is in side the plastic part.
after that tilt the bit up and down in circular motion to widen the plastic and to creat a more ball shape to your hole .

when u want to make to ball joints on a small part i'l recommend to out on smaller part 2 ball joints instead of creating 2 females in the part,it will make the part more fragile .

if u placed the balljoint on a "thin" u can always add some greenstuff/epoxy putty/plumbers putty/ my favorite is the polyester putty that is used in the car industry .
shape it add the your lines with a sharp needle or a hobby knife

any leg mods r failry easy ,cut the part change the posture ,and glue the feet in the new place ,fill till u r sattisfied with epoxy putty, sand down and line it .
